it was either Final Fantasy, Mother, or Dragon Warrior. I'm not entirely sure.

It was Dragon Warrior. Square made Final Fantasy to directly compete with Dragon Warrior. And as for Mother I heard it's alot like Earthbound (Or Mother two) and cause the combat system (in Mother 2 at least) was inspired by Dragon Warrior I assume Warrior came first.

I have a "version" of Mother 1... *cough* (rhymes with "bomb"), and it is quite a lot like Earthbound.

I heard somewhere that RPG was originally a term for games where you took the "roles" of military leaders. Then the fantasy games came along and it has a new definition: Games where you hit pretend things with numbers meaning how powerful the opponent and player are. And EXP. I think all RPG's have an EXP system.

Many people say the LoZ series is an RPG and that doesn't have an experience system. (Less you mention the crap that is LoZ 2.)

LoZ is an adventure RPG.

And I heard that something like Dungeon was the first RPG-but I think D&D deserves it because I heard Dungeon was based off of D&D.
