Spirit Airlines

I picked Spirit to fly to LA, knowing that they were pretty cramped and not the best airline in the world. They're very cheap, but always have been. We went to check-in online because I leave tomorrow and now Spirit charges $35 for carry-on! What the heck! Checking in baggage is only $33! Oh, and you have to pay for it there and on the way home. On top of that, when you go to pick your seats, they cost $10 minimum so you might as well pick a seat. Ugh. It cost me a little over $70 extra just to check-in. If I would have waited to do it tomorrow at the airport it would have been closer to $90!

I'm a cheap person and this just puts me over the edge. I could have gone for tickets that were more on a flight with free carry-on and better service.

Yeah, you really have to check what your airline is offering now, because they've made it "normal" to have extra fees and charges in the budget airlines. Legally, they have to provide the information, so you just really have to read everything before you choose how you fly. Sucks. :(
Nonsense, I have not yet begun to defile myself.

Wait. They charge a mandatory fee for getting your seat? Isn't that what buying the ticket is for? The seat?

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Wow, I find this kind of odd - Spirit Airlines, last time we flew them, actually bumped us up to first class for practically no charge. I mean less than double digits. The pilot also was good and the flight attendants were very nice, as well.

However they don't serve Denver anymore, so maybe they've fallen under new management.
