Have you watched The Truman Show?
What do you think of this film?
Truman Burbank is the unsuspecting star of The Truman Show, a reality television program filmed 24/7 through thousands of hidden cameras and broadcast to a worldwide audience. Christof, the show's creator and executive producer, seeks to capture Truman's authentic emotions and give audiences a relatable everyman. Truman has been the star of the show since he was born and the studio officially adopted him.

As Truman was selected from birth following an unwanted pregnancy, Christof claims that Truman came to be adopted not just by the show, but by the whole "world". Truman's hometown of Seahaven Island is a complete set built within an enormous dome, populated by crew members and actors who highlight the product placements that generate revenue for the show. The elaborate set allows Christof to control almost every aspect of Truman's life, including the weather.

To prevent Truman from discovering his false reality, Christof manufactures scenarios that dissuade Truman's desire for exploration, such as the "death" of his father in a sea storm to instill aquaphobia, and by constantly broadcasting and printing messages of the dangers of traveling and the virtues of staying home. However, Christof cannot predict all of Truman's actions. During his college years, Truman was intended to fall in love with and marry co-student Meryl, but fell for Sylvia, an extra.

I saw it. Liked it a lot---------as I recall, I hadn't ever seen Jim Carrey in a non-comedy role before, and I was super impressed with his performance.

Wonderful film. I'm just disappointed that TV producers took exactly the opposite of the intended message from it.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

One of Jim Carrey's best films, and just a good one in general.

Is that in reference to reality TV?

It really nice and all. When I had a terrible job second time around my co-worker told me about it. She said I was just like the character. I mean yeah we have forces around us, manipulating, controlling us, and targeting us.

The "Truman Show" shows you that you are being led down a path in life that is controlled by some method of thinking.

You look at Hollywood people. They are not real. The so called exotic life is just for show.

Jim Carry never graduated from Junior Highschool. Yet we watched him walk down fashion runway inside underwear that looks like leaves,
and burn millions on his life. Does that make any sense at all???

I think the most realistic thing was the wife that followed him from college. I mean think about it. She was about to give him a baby at some point. She was being paid to be his pretend girlfriend, wife, and possible mother to his children. Is any of this adding up? Do you think any of those models and women cast members actually had any real feelings Michael J. Fox or Gary Coleman???

"Truman Show" = Hollwood lying to you while being honest AKA "They Live"

The message I took from it is basically to be skeptical of everything, especially mainstream narratives, because a lot of it is constructed.
