When was the last time you bought something retro?

V-Stock is the best place to buy that stuff around here.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

My first thought is eBay. I'm not sure of a good a brick and mortar option, but I haven't been into a games store probably since the 90s, maybe early 2000s. I remember when Funcoland was a thing, but I never actually bought anything from (or sold anything to) there. Their pricing practices always seemed sketchy to me.

There's none in my city, so eBay would win by default.

I love videogames. I do not consider them Retro at all. Because as long as you can boot it and play it not so Retro. Saying Retro is a consumer [ableist slur removed ~mod] word. It is far too young to even consider them so. The reality this material is so soft and breaks to easy. As time goes by the material becomes soft and easier to crack then before.

Bottom-line is this. Depending on what you want to play in particular you probably should just not buy unless you absolutely have to play the original experience of the game.

Another problem I hate is that many people on forums ( gaming forums ) are just jerks. I give up on the so called "community" because their is none. They are just heartless.

They become the [anti-Semitic, racist, & sexist stereotypes removed ~mod] talk to you instead. That is what the community has become. [removed]

I give up on buying new games. I give up on collecting. [removed]

Gaming is a relatively new entertainment medium, but the Magnavox Odyssey is half a century old by this point, as old or older than most gamers. I think at the very least something 50 years old should be considered retro. I understand your point though and agree to some extent, I also find the term retro is grossly misused.

I have seen people refer to 3DS as retro as early as two or three years ago. I assume it's zoomers who had it as a kid when it was new and now it's "retro" to them, even though it was on shelves not long ago and the eShop is even still up. In fact, it had a new, officially released game just a few months back called Fragrant Story.

The last time I bought a retro game was at a local market. Since all our secondhand stores closed, I don't buy many retro games. I liked to wander about the store and check things out inn person. I preferred the quality, too (boxes, manuals in good condition).

...well, Milwaukee area has Record Head and Mega Media XChange, and Half-Price Books has a selection of used everything. Last few times I've bought something non-current has been one of those places.

I used to go to flea markets and garage sales, but now that everybody has a magic device in their pocket that connects them instantly to all the information ever, you don't find good deals or grab bags with hidden treasures in.

^ I remember finding sealed, new games at Goodwill for like $5 about 15 years ago. Now every cruddy game they get is priced high enough that it isn't even worth looking. The prevalence of the Internet certainly has some downsides.
