Excuses.
GABERDINE.
Also, I now (finally) have reliable access to the intarsphere again, so expect me to be showing up more often now. In, y'know, fights and such.

Just to clarify about the 'refusals' I coughed out on some of the RPs I've done, growing up a little has helped. Not to mention, I usually only use that as an excuse to keep inexperience/whatrepstersaid out of a meant-to-be-serious topic. It's be majorly pretentious to limit participants, it's just wise to ask yourself "Am I ready to tackle this kind of event?"

Two things:
Gonna try and get to work on some new stuff, as I've had a 'writing renaissance' as of late.
Also, probably going to put a new NLBFT or something along those lines up in the near future. I'll be gone for a couple of weeks in the next couple of months, but since I plan to judge rather than participate for a change, it shouldn't really be a problem.
Yea or nay on the NLBFT, guys? I'm slightly worried we may not have enough guys to do it.

I have been waiting for a new NLBFT for a while.
Should Selene Starblade show up again, I plan to give her an even more serious run for her money.
/me rubs his hands together.
So yes, obviously.
But I fear there may not be much left of my peers...

That's it? Darn.
Oh well. At least I can say I was here for the beginning, and will be here for the probable end, of the active Battlefield days.

Don't start prophesying our doom just yet, Metal Man, there's always a group interested in this kind of thing, and I honestly don't believe we'll ever completely fall into silence.
Either way, I'll cook up sign-up sheet and post it. It should bring some interest; if it doesn't, I'll have to advertise in other forums like I did before I became mod. This is the exact state it was in when I came and tried to inject some vigor (with help, of course), and I'm perfectly willing to do it again.

Actually my prophecy was an underhanded way to get an update on the topic. If no one else did anything I'd have tried to renew interest myself.
So, thanks for [strike]falling for i[/strike]--err, the update.

If it's writers ye want, writers ye'll get. Can't have the NLBFT without the defending champ. Though Selene and I in all fairness need to lock horns for a third time in a rubber match before I'll feel comfortable about last tourney's convoluted "victory". For now, I'm a 1.5 time winner, heh. Anyways, put up the sign up and let me rip some throats out.

Hope some more people step up.
In the meantime, mind a practice match against me, Phenom?

It's basically a tournament; it stands for Nintendoland Battlefield Tournament. It was created ages ago by R-18 and has been practiced in a sort of broken 'yearly' manner since. I try to get the tourney up at least once a year, but there have been two in one year, and for a while, none.
I'd like to do a 3rd Tournament of Red Lions for those of us who want to violently let 'er rip, but I feel the NLBFT it a little bit more of a draw and it's structured in a slightly more accessible way - although, there's nothing more 'user friendly' than a tournament that promotes ripping one's throat out for added points...
Well, either way, some sort of tourney is going up soon. I have a busy week coming up, but I'll try to get it up before I end up having to leave for two weeks next month. Up.

YO.
Metal Man, though a bit preachily, has brought it to my attention that we need new ****. So let's get new ****.
I want your ideas. If you have any for a good, activity drawing topic, tell me. I'll listen.
While you're thinking, consider these for our future battling pleasure:
A new hotel topic - I liked the old hotels, though I didn't participate in many. It's hard to get anything going around here in that regard nowadays, since the last few attempts at hotel and inn topics have gone poorly. If anyone shows new interest in this, we'll give it a try. If not, we'll move past hotels completely.
The Tournament of Red Lions - I know, I know. We haven't even technically wrapped up NLBFT 13 yet and already there's talk of a new tournament. But this is different. If you were not already aware, the Red Lions tournament was a tournament invented by Wyborn for the purpose of crushing some goddamn heads. Emphasis was placed on violence and visceral writing that evokes genuine pain in the reader even as he imagines the stuff. I personally love this one and though I prefer reading it, maybe for once I'll just ****ing do this **** and brush off those old violent tendencies I used to enjoy using. Again, this relies solely on interest. Do you want to see it happen, or no? I do, and I may put it up just to see who shows up to check it out, but I think the activity quotient here is becoming as unacceptable as it was when I injected my stupid and youthful energy into it some 3 years ago. Let's try that again.
Lastly, some variant of the War topic may work nicely. I tried to do an extremely ambitious version of war with more structure, but the original War was simply that: a war. And I think something as awesome as that, which was essentially a hugeass free-for-all, would drum up some creativity in our users.
Actually, I just remembered that I started a topic about castle invasions some time ago... Perhaps I'll bump that and get it fully started up. I was very excited about it at the time, so let's hope it'll all work out the way I planned it.
Anyway, new ideas are always welcome. Give me something you think may work. If you're hesitant about going ahead with an idea you've always had, present it here. If it's good but broken, we'll fix the damn thing.
Either way, this revival will not simply rely on mod-sponsored topics. We also need you guys out there battling and coming up with ideas on your own again. It's been depressingly quiet around here, so let's get our **** together. Now.
GOOOOOOOOO
EDIT: Upon viewing my previous announcements, I had some nice little ideas there that never took off. I may be utilizing that Training Grounds idea, and of course "War 2" will be essentially a second stab at Armageddon, which failed tremendously.

An inn or hotel topic might be fun provided we can drum up the numbers. Though what I'm really hoping will pop up is an RP topic with an intresting theme, I don't know why but I'm in the mood for a good space opera. Either way I'm just looking for an excusse to Fleash out Will somemore.
