Some leaders are all fun and games in real life. It's nice not to have a hyper-active, sugar crazed, happy go lucky guy as a lead. (Not saying that that's bad, but I'm pretty sick of those lead people (yeah, fun ain't I))

Gunblade!!!

With cast development. To me, to make a cast develop, the game needs to be set out over a longer period of time. FFVIII didn't give me any impression that time whizzed by. People don't change quickly over night.

Gunblade!!!!!!

However the fact that you can junction magics and GF (Guardian Forces (Much better name IMO)) to everyone. Is probably another reason why I liked this game.

Gunblade!!!!!!!!>Big *** Sword>A Monkey-boyyyyyy with a knife

I could not stand VIII simply because it seemed the writers kept forgetting what the story was or if their characters were in love or what not. Weed does that you know.

^^Wrong. Zidane had a dual-bladed sword later in the game. Plus, he was a better hero than Tidus, Vaan, and Cloud, and a lot less emo to boot. He actually developed and grew as a character instead of whined forever about his problems and his angst. Besides, even IF he only had a knife, that's definitely something refreshing after all of those stupid swords, and I am frankly offended that you had the dagger at the end of the list instead of behind the Gunblade.

Try again. :p

To summarize the male leads in the last few FF games:

Cloud: Boring
Squall: Emo
Zidane: Monkey
Tidus: Meg Ryan
Vaan: Manssiere

I tend to give the edge to Squall simply because of the Gunblade.-jay

I thought one of VIII's big selling point was its graphics...I think maybe they switched to Nomura was because he puts quite a bit of detail in his artwork and they decided to show off how good their graphics were by showing off how they can capture all of the primary colours, zippers, and belts Nomura likes to put in his character designs.

...as well as his fetishes for said clothing-parts.

Okay, I now have to respond to all your posts. Damn exams!!!!

Nom: I agree with you. That's why I give the edge to Zidane, who is just a regular guy with no personality flaws that make him not fun to be around. He's not a jerk and he's not a hyperactive loser.

And the characters all have the same lame backstory. And Squall and Rinoa were the only characters that got any FMV time. Zell, Selphie, Quistis, Irvine, Laguna, Ward, and Kiros weren't given any love by Square.

The gunblade is cool, but it's not as cool as NORMAL WEAPONS. You know, the kind from FFs I-VI, IX, and XII.

Gal: I completely agree with you.

Jay: Sorry, Zidane gets the edge. Squall isn't a Gunblade. Seifer has a Gunblade, too. And Seifer's cool. The coolness of a character isn't based on what their weapon is. -CSM

^ but Zidane isn't a regular guy, he's a monkey-boyyyyyyy! Plus Seifer is insane.

Yes it doesn't make them cool, but it certainly helps.

Absolutely.

Also, he's not a monkey. He's a Genome.

The thing with XII...why not have a unified kingdom in peace? I get the whole humans stand on their own thing. Yet from the sound of it the first dude with the crystals made life better for all. Getting rid of that kinda of power just let dicks from the empire get into an advantageous position.

On the main characters, i'm kinda bored with the 2 leads that keep showing up. It seems like the same girl each time with only a slightly different look. Too damn cliche. XIII chick is the same thing. "We wanted a female Cloud" they say yet she still looks like the last 4. The male leads I have to give the edge to Zidane since I actually liked him and his personality more than Gloomy, Grumpy, Whiny and Girly.

FFX was alright. Though overall it was just kinda bland. I'm not a big fan of voice acting in games and FFX was almost intolerable at time just because I could hear them.

If anything they should just limit voice to cutscenes. I think the final chat with Kefka might be a good example of such a situation where voice might be appropriate.

Hey, Tan! How've you been? I pretty much agree with that post. If you're talking about Raithwall, his power just sorta wained after his death and Dalmasca was his last lineage.

Nom: It's the same thing really. -CSM
