Secret of Mana

#1

Post by Sim Kid » Mon Oct 07, 2002 6:37 pm

Look: Okay, practically EVERYONE hates this game and some of the Newbies don't know what the heck Secret of Mana is, so I'll post the review so the new people can find out why everyone hates Secret of Mana.

Graphics: These Graphics are a big plus to the game. The bosses are cool lookin! 8/10

Sound: The Final Battle music is really good, but you probably won't care long enough to get that far. 8/10

Gameplay: You have 3 party members, but only 2 of them (you and GIRL) actully do stuff! SPRITE just stands there going "Duuuuuuuhhhhhh" and gets killed. So when you get SPRITE, Ignore it when he dies in battle, but in the end he dies for good. 6/10

Storyline: BOY finds the Mana sword sticking out of a rock, pulls it out (Probably thinking it was Excalabur) And unleases a curse upon his village. See, if you find a weapon, you musn't Touch it. And along the way, he meets SPRITE and GIRL and they Join. I called SPRITE "Dummy" In the game and I called GIRL "Kayla". I called BOY Danny. And he must kill the Mana beast, but then Dummy Dies after the Mana beast dies. That's really sad if you ask me. But not as Sad as Aeris's death scene was. AAAAAEEEERRRRRRIIIIISSSSSS!!! 6/10

Overall: I see why everyone hates this game. Dummy stands there going "Duuuuuuuhhhh" and getting killed. Go for Final Fantasy adventure. That's alot better. 6/10.

Already have it. FFA is a really good game! But some of the NPC's don't even help. Marcie, Watts, and GIRL help, Bogard isn't very useful because he has to be close up to attack. MAN is also useful. His red fireballs are something NOT to be messed with. And I told SPRITE to do something other than going "duuuuuuuhhhhh" and getting Killed, but he still got Teared apart. GIRL was useful unlike SPRITE.

Hey, SOM was a good game. Sure, the plot was dry but the gameplay was lots of fun.

Judgeing by this review, you obviously never learned that:

1. You can switch characters with the select button.

2. It's a 3 player game.

I like the game too believe it or not. I want the next Mana game for GBA!!! The only bad thing is that Dummy just goes "Duuuuuhhh" and even IF you tell him to use his strongest magic on the enemies they still go and kill him. I think There was something wrong with the cartrige though. The enemies seem to only attack Dummy and rarely attack Danny and Kayla. The ending was pretty emotional, as was FFA's. I don't know how Seiken Dentsu 3 and Legend of Mana ended, and I probably never will.

I actually do not have any trouble controlling all three characters at once. Sprite can actually be useful if you know how to use him correctly instead of having the monsters kill him.

I have FFA, and its far overrated. If you REALLY want an adventure, five letters: Z-E-L-D-A. Final Fantasy should stick to RPGs.

Oh yeah, and for those of you that didn't understand what I meant: Adventure = similar to RPGs except with real time fighting. RPG = Adventure with turn based fighting.

okay, I think you're all missing the point here...I like that game, but I got a bad opinion because the Cartrige had a bug that made Dummy hardly do anything and make the enemies and bosses try to kill Dummy and rarely attack Danny and Kayla.

I tell sprite to use his magic but he just either stands there or runs around and casting magic sometimes, and if I control him, then he tears enemies apart, but then Boy gets hurt alot, and I tell Girl to Heal everyone and she does.
