Best RPGs ever made? #2
Basically the first one died with people debating on the 1st RPG, so I created a new one.
The Best RPGs ever made are Fire Emblem 4; Seisen no Keifu, with it's dark storyline having to do with the Descendants of the gods and having huge maps and kickass battle music that go extremely well with your kickass characters, as well as a love and skills system but it's a bit easy, but not as easy as FE7. It's also the most imported RPG alongside the Dragon Quests. Final Fantasy VI ties with it with it's intriguing storyline and an extremely funny Villain named Kefka.

I couldn't have put it better myself. Both BGI and BGII are the greatest RPG's out there. I posted this in the pc forum hereOriginally posted by Gabriel Lantis:
Baldur's Gate II
A myriad of sidequests, character class system, skills, and PC interactions meshed in a storyline that isn't bogged down by some of the contemporary cliches that make so many console RPGs seem alike.

Chrono Trigger or Baldur's Gate II. No questions there.
Video Gamerz Network boards will be back up shortly after a change of hosting. Thanks for not caring.

Panzer Dragoon Saga tied with Legend of Dragoon.
PDS: amazing execution of the rpg aspects surpassing the ones at the time along with the battle engine. Flying on a dragon which one had to fly around during battle executing moves and using your gun. you also learned how to dodge quick
LoD: Additions. Timing and coordination required to execute plain attacks, making every battle exciting. hitting the x, then oh no the enemy parried so you have to parry quick to regain the attack. "gust of wind dance" i can still hear the lancer say
I loathe rpgs where you just sit there in a line and hit attack, and the person attacks and then the guys is dead... no involvement, no skill, no worth. Lotsa potions and revives, bleck..

<i>Sgt. Johnson: Now listen up! Back in my day, we didn\'t have fancy tanks! We had two sticks... and a rock! And we had to share the rock! You should consider yourself very lucky marines!

Well, I hate turn based rpgs..."okay, you just attacked me, but i dodged. Now it's my turn to do something. I think ill hit you with my sword. Oh no, i missed..now it is your turn to hit me."Originally posted by defensive strike:

And you can never say that Baldur's Gate takes no skill. Because it is a D&D game, it is more than just hack and slash...the whole game is actually controlled by a turn based clock, but it runs in real time, so its not notacible. Combat in BG is very involved, and its more realistic...you don't take turns.

Combat in BG, speaking from the point of view from one who played Icewind Dale II, is not particularly challenging, despite its being semi-real time and involves unit placement.
PDS sounds like a Zone of the Enders type game with the RPG stat system thrown in as an excuse to make things easier for the reflexively challenged. It's like SRPGs' relationship to real strategy games.
