Nintendo of America Sucks
"I know there's a big Mother/Earthbound fanbase. I just don't like it, so I'm not translating Mother 3."
In other words, NoA is saying "F you" to us Mother/Earthbound fans.
I've never been so insulted by a video game company in my life. -CSM

You just noticed that?
I thought NoA sucked after I saw the way they treat NSiders. And after I learned how bad their ToP localization was.
But yeah, they're not translating Mother 3 because of Earthbound's sales, I think. Last I heard, they didn't even advertise it that much. i want Mother 3. and Mother 1/2. In English. :(

You may find that interesting, though.

Oh sure because a company that's trying to make money is actually out to piss you off. Come on people! You guys are being a little too harsh. NoA doesn't suck...it's just that if they were to translate every game that existed from Japan then there would be no time for new releases and stuff. It's a lot of work to translate a game. You guys probably never know, maybe they will translate it later. They aren't out to get you, trust me. They would lose money if they would.
Oh and Irby what's this rank system you speak of? It doesn't sound true. And if theres a majority of americans who actually disliked the Earthbound game then chances are they aren't going to try to sell something that research shows would fail in the market. It's all about money, don't be pissed off about it. It's a fact of life.

All you have to do is take a glance at Starmen.net and you'll see that it's silly not to do even a budget translation-release. The problem is that the GBA is more or less a retired system. It should have been a DS game - then it would have a chance.
Either way, you'll still get to play it. Do yourself a favor and buy a Flash cart for your GBA, so you can play it properly when the guys at Starmen finish their translation.

Well think about it...it's a little too late for a translation. And considering the game is a little outdated, and considering it has been mass pirated and translated already, they actually would lose some money on this deal! I know it's NoA's mistake for not translating it immediately but they had so many other things on their mind at the time such as the Wii. Oh and please tell me this evidence that points otherwise I'd love to hear it.

The rank system is a retarded thing Nintendo made on their forums. You have to reach a certain rank to post pics, edit posts. Its stupid. Also the rank system has nothing to do with Earthbound Wvsw.

What are you on about? The game just came out this past year in Japan. It is not translated yet. All of the people working on translations have explicitly said they would prefer an official version. And did you forget Starmen.net's 30,000 signature petition? That's 30,000 people outright who would be guaranteed to buy Mother 3, were it released. People who want it, specifically, without barely any information released stateside.
Also, plenty of games with GBA-grade graphics have been moved to the DS. Overall, you do not need colossal advertising and sales to sell a budget videogame. Tons of companies do it all the time. The idea that Nintendo is too small a company to afford translating it is ridiculous. And sometimes, it's considered good policy to just honor the fan's wishes, even if the profit is marginal. That creates dedicated buyers. Nintendo is a huge company, and has even publicly acknowledged the Earthbound fanbase. Miyamoto himself has publicly acknowledged that the size in the US is much larger than he had imagined. It's just customer neglect to avoid it with petty imagined excuses like the ones you provide.
