A bunch of utterly reprehensible behavior. Their attempts to justify themselves just made it worse.

So this isn't political. Well anyway, some of those comments were unnecessarily rude, but it does sound like the winner wasn't selected based on traditional criteria, going on the organization's comments in the article. Seems like an overreaction from both sides. I hope the girl doesn't feel bad about the negative comments.
