What does Netflix get from hosting its service for free?
This is a long time question that has not been answered. What does netflix get from somebody who uses it for free?
The reality is that Netflix and Hulu both partnered with companies to host their service and content for free. The same with Apple-TV device owners and even Amazon prime members.
My question is. What do these services get from you in order to achieve this?
.......
Most of these subscribers are phone adjacent users, with accounts that links to the same number used. As you know these devices called phones are really just pocket computers at this point.
They have phones that cost $1000 of dollars being dubbed "Gaming Phones" ( which is just silly in my opinion ). That is more the able to emulate various devices, some could literally run your current gen consoles on them in their tiny-package. Which brings me back to the point I made.
.........
What does Netflix get from you ?
I know that most people do not use the Android internal fire-wall ( just as with Windows and OSX ) to block out certain websites and domain names.
I know that many apps/programs on phones can and do read your
1. any message your phone displays
2. Phone info
3. possible location
4. GPS coordinates
5. Coladscope ( forget word ) position when using etc with the phone
6. Can record your voice and possible video even when you think it is off.
7. Your messages from your messenger app
8. Your contact list
9. Possible your emails if your being messaged about them
But again even Netflix has yet to be honest and open about the information they are collecting from you or the phone provider they are doing business with. a Spokesperson even said "That is not for discussion"
...............
I write this because years before Netflix I was downloading media by the gigs. Like 10gigs a night on a daily basis when the speed was great.
Nowadays I am unable to download certain things ( specifically big named titles from well known venders...even whatever is under 300MB ).
My dad ( being the coward he is ) likes to brag " I get all these movies for less then $5 bucks a month". I tell him and everybody look dad it is still not worth it because your not getting the highest grade copy, nore you are getting anything physical at all. I even had a co-worker who was a great supervisor of this terrible job I took and he admitted to spending more then $2000 a month on Netflix related stuff ( his wife pays most of the bills ).
To make things worst I hate seeing my parents watch television on their phones. I hate seeing them lean forward, bend over, or even put on their glasses just to watch whatever. Even seeing them looking at a broken screen makes me want to cry sometimes. I try to get them to use scrcpy app with their computer ( an program you can use to view most Samsung android 5 devices on your computer ). I say cancel Disney+ and just get a decent service provider just to view.
..............
Bottom line I ask this question to you . What do you think netflix, prime, hulu and other so called DLC pay services get from the end user ?

Free? Do you mean the trial period? Or do you mean sharing accounts? If so, I assume it's to get people conditioned so that they'll subscribe themselves when the trial ends, or if they lose access to the shared account. I have a feeling I'm misunderstanding your post though.
But yeah, Netflix and Disney+ are bad for many reasons. Just look at the filth which Netflix produces, like Cuties for example. It's no good to support them, there's other ways to watch what you want without doing so.

You gain access to free material by having a phone service with specific providers. Same with Hulu, Apple TV, Prime, and some other services.
You still have stuff that you must purchase and cost money.

^^Netflix didn't produce Cuties; they just bought distribution rights.
^They get money from those providers. They don't go totally unpaid.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Re: What does Netflix get from hosting its service for free?
My main point was they host truly objectionable content like that, Cuties was just arguably the most egregious example. Netflix has plenty of other vile stuff like The First Temptation of Christ.
Anyway, that's true, the service providers probably make the deal worth it for them. I suppose they probably conclude that there's a synergetic value in keeping good phones and streaming services in people's pockets. It seems mutually beneficial.

That is not Streaming. That is like having a person who does not use their phone for anything just to stare at all it all day and night long. Something I did via but having access to a computer without submitting any information or agreeing to services rendered via a TOS. The content is not the best viewing at all. It seems like a burn ( distraction of life ).
........
I could go on with "Cuties" but I am just going to stick with the idea that girls are like
mayflies. Oppose to the answer that is "Date with an Angel 1987". Going any further into that topic is basically bashing the Catholic Church for the obvious LGBT lawyer scandals, and the reality the modern feminist does not represent the ideal woman at all. Which could go into the ridiculous term of "Birth giving females" or even Enslaved Breeders = Working Party.
I do not know about The First Temptation of Christ but clearly Hollywood for a long time since post WWII has been abusing Christianity for the longest. That would be like going into Rick and Morty and what religious fraction they clearly represent but is barely shown on the surface.

Money. They get money. The ISPs that offer those "free" Netflix subscriptions just pay Netflix themselves. I literally just said that. But again what does Netflix get from providing free access to content?

^^ Yes, Christianity faces more religious mockery compared to other religions by far. It wouldn't be as bad if it was at least more equally distributed.
Anyway, I think you got your answer about the how the partnership with those streaming services benefits them.

Re: What does Netflix get from hosting its service for free?
Look I do not think so because so far these companies have not actually explained "What are they getting out of this". That is not a benifit that is proving that the phone companies would be over-charging us and we could have faster bandwidth then 70k. It is just silly and a complete joke.
Even with 5G promotions which is insanity why not just divide the 5G among 4G customers allowing for more traffic to flow through.
I am not going into religion, reality we say ____ religion, we also have to account for every other variant of it.

That does not add-up. This means PhoneISP would be losing money and would be charging us extra just to have the same service. The same could be said about Amazon Prime members getting free Amazon content.CaptHayfever wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 3:26 pmMoney. They get money. Re: What does Netflix get from hosting its service for free?
Well, the service providers probably lure people in with extra stuff like these streaming services, so even if it ends up cutting into their profit margins a bit they make up for it with an increase of overall customers. At least, that's what I assume.

Re: What does Netflix get from hosting its service for free?
^^PhoneISP isn't losing money; their services don't cost anywhere near as much as they charge.
And Amazon Prime members don't actually get free Amazon content; that's what most of their subscription cost goes towards. The shipping is the "free" perk they actually get, & Amazon covers that by underpaying their warehouse & delivery staff.
^That is true. Reduced profit =/= loss.
