The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Have you seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show?
Who are your favourite characters?
Which is your favourite song?

Initial reception was extremely negative, but it soon became known as a midnight movie when audiences began participating with the film at the Waverly Theater in New York City in 1976. Audience members returned to the cinemas frequently and talked back to the screen and began dressing as the characters, spawning similar performance groups across the United States. At almost the same time, fans in costume at the King's Court Theater in Pittsburgh began performing alongside the film. This "shadow cast" mimed the actions on screen above and behind them, while lip-syncing their character's lines.
The film starts with the opening credits for the main cast ("Science Fiction, Double Feature"). Then, a criminologist narrates the tale of the newly engaged Brad Majors and Janet Weiss ("Dammit Janet"), who find themselves lost and with a flat tire on a cold and rainy late November in 1974. Seeking a telephone, the couple walks to a nearby castle ("Over at the Frankenstein's Place"); there, they discover an ongoing Annual Transylvanian Convention, where they meet the Igor-like Riff Raff, his sister Magenta, and a groupie named Columbia ("Time Warp"). Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a cross-dressing, pansexual mad scientist, introduces himself to the couple ("Sweet Transvestite").

It's fun, but I'm largely indifferent towards it.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

It's weird, I didn't get far in. My friend tried getting me to watch it a while back and I'm usually down to watch or play most things, but I honestly thought he was trolling me. Later on I discovered it's an unironically popular movie.

It's okay. I don't really understand how it got to be so popular. I mean, yeah, it has a lot of iconic stuff in, but it's pretty bizarre.

Loaded to the gills with great music, I'll say that much. 'Time Warp' and 'What Ever Happened to Saturday Night' are both pure dynamite---------real rollickers, them. And, like, 'Science Fiction Double Feature' and 'There's a Light' are super pretty. 'I'm Going Home', too.

It would be interesting to see one of those midnight showings with all the audience participation (the Oriental famously hosts those), but at the same time, I wouldn't want to physically be there. Those people are....enthusiastic.

I went to some midnight showings in my preteen years thanks to a real weird upbringing. I knew some of the regulars from the high school drama club. It's pretty wild.

I haven't watched it in a long time, but I rewatched Sweet Transvestite on YouTube not long ago and Tim Curry delivers, as usual.

I only really know Tim Curry from Home Alone 2 but he's the star of the show imo. Really funny guy.

^^You should check out 'Clue' some time, my dude. It's a great, funny movie, and Tim Curry is pretty much the star of the show.
