...they made a sequel to 'Poseidon Adventure'? How does that work? Does the boat flip even more upside down?

I remember thinking 'Andromeda Strain' was a great flick back in high school. I'd have to watch it again.

So are comparisons between similar movies released around the same time a fair game? I'll go first---------'Volcano' is definitely better than 'Dante's Peak'. Stupider, yes, but better. And 'Deep Impact' is better than 'Armageddon', but it barely matters, because they both stink. And I know they're animal attack movies, not disaster movies, but 'Lake Placid' is way better than 'Deep Blue Sea'.

I can't think of any besides what's on that list, so here goes:
The Poseidon Adventure
Twister
Airplane
Snakes on a Plane

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I'm not terribly fond of the genre, but I appreciate a few of them for whatever reasons. Backdraft in particular had an attraction at Universal Studios which I remember fondly, more than the movie itself.

Twister and Titanic are okay. I'll always like the dude who falls off the Titanic and hits a propeller, doing a little flip.

I have watched a few, but none come even close to being in my favourites... that said, my top three (I don't watch THAT many disaster films...)

Twister
San Andreas
The Day After
She lives in the clouds and talks to the birds...
