What I've seen of his directorial efforts, from best to worst:
Apollo 13
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Splash
Gung Ho
Solo
The Da Vinci Code
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

^You should check out 'Willow'. Great flick. It's like if pre-prequels Lucasfilm had made LotR.
I remember really liking 'Cocoon', but it's been ages since I've seen it.
'Gung Ho!' is okay. I like 'Splash' a whole lot.
'Frost/Nixon' is a good movie. I hear it isn't very historically accurate, but I like that they actually tried to depict Nixon as a real person instead of a comical supervillain.

A Beautiful Mind is the best one I've seen, but Ransom was pretty good as well. The rest don't seem too interesting to me, especially not the Star Wars spin-off or that blasphemous Da Vinci trilogy.
Also, Backdraft. I don't even remember much of it, but the attraction they built for it at Universal Studios is really memorable, so I appreciate the movie for that regardless.

^'Backdraft' has super awesome fire effects. I forgot that was a Ron Howard movie. (For that matter, I thought a few of Ron Howard's movies were Rob Reiner's, and vice versa. I get them mixed up-----similar names and all.)

Yeah, that's probably what inspired the attraction. Today it'd all be cheap CGI and just wouldn't hit the sane way, probably. Certain movies need practical effects imo.
