Re: What video game would be great as a movie?
It's too easy to point at anything already relatively cinematic such as Metal Gear, even stuff like Metroid. I want to see them take a crack at Star Fox. There's just enough story to work with but most of it is battle quips and pretty basic exposition. A good writer might make something special out of it, and I'd be curious to see how they'd handle the non-combat scenes, fans seem to throw a fit whenever Star Fox isn't in his Arwing unless it's in Smash Bros.
Another interesting one might be Earthbound but it's so video game-y I just don't know how exactly it could work. Mother 3 would be easier though, so maybe start there.
Flint could be played by Liam Nelson maybe? He's got a pretty good range, he's a tough guy but can put in the emotion too. And if he can act alongside Jar Jar then he can do anything. The rest could really be played by anyone imo.

Baldur's Gate, but I'd prefer it as a two or three-part animated deal. Preferably based on the original games, and not the expansion packs and all that. If at all possible, use the original voice cast, with some changes as appropriate or necessary.

Spoiler.
Gorion's Ward... well, leave that up to the producers. I'd go for a human, personally.- CaptHayfever

^^Earthbound would make a great miniseries. In fact, I'd love to adapt the entire Mother trilogy as a trio of miniseries.
I've said it before & I'll say it again: Eternal Darkness.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I was thinking making "L.A Noire" into a movie might work... but I wouldn't have a clue of who to recommend for main roles!!

(imagines an animated movie (with two-dimensional drawings or designs) based on certain Nester's Funky Bowling game and certain cartoons involving a certain character named "Nester" for certain books (related to video games) named "Nintendo Power" in response to this question)
