^I've watched it before. The opening stretch is bumpy; the two worst episodes of the series are in the opening half of season 1, & there's a lot of clunky exposition in those early installments as well. It gets a lot better at the midseason twist, & then even better at the Winter Soldier tie-in a few episodes later. (For the purposes of my chronological-MCU-rewatch project, however, I'm pretending not to know that yet in my recaps).

9. Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle - 3/5

Hey, I finally got around to watching this! My opinion on it is pretty much the same as the first: it's an entertaining popcorn flick. The "Lucy's Liu's dad thinks she's a prostitute" bit was still pretty funny. I also learned that, during 90% of the motocross scene, the girls were actually their male stunt doubles with wigs and false breasts. They did cast people who were similar in height and build to the actresses though!

The Core is a really silly fun sci-fi action movie

Onward was good but started off really slow. Really enjoyed it by the end.

The Florida Project is a heartbreaking drama that Willem Dafoe should've won an Oscar for.

Stuber has a fun main pairing and a solid premise but I only laughed a couple times.

Sam Jackson as Shaft is so much fun. Some very fun Busta Rhymes as well. Christian Bale plays a rich racist very well.

Set It Off is a classic hood movie. A bit corny at times but overall a good thriller.

6 Underground isn't the best Michael Bay movie but it is the most Michael Bay movie. I'm sick of Ryan Reynolds though.

The History of Trunks. I think it's pretty solid, not quite as good as a standalone viewing as Bardock: Father of Goku, but still great. Probably features the saddest scene in the series, especially since Future Gohan never gets resurrected unlike 95% of other meaningful deaths.

'RiffTrax Live! The Giant Spider Invasion'

It was funny. It's cool to see their new takes on old material.

Also...I mean, I kind of like the movie. It's like one of those old B-movies from the fifties, but tossed into small-town 1970s Wisconsin, and it's almost competent, with characters and writing and all. The direction is acceptible, the acting is alright, and...like, the gross hillbilly family kind of hits the sweet-spot where you don't completely hate them, and yet they're all so morally objectionable that it doesn't bother you much when they die. And I like the scientists. Vance is so weird and grumpy, and I really like Jenny Langer. Good old Barbara Hale. She plays a middle-aged astrophysicist, and she's tough, smart and enterprising. Also she has a deep, husky, growly, cigarettey voice (my kryptonite)-------I'd listen to her reading the phonebook.

(EDIT: Only thing doesn't really work for me is the giant spider itself. It's about the size of a Ford Fiesta. Did this thing really make hordes of Wisconsinites run away screaming? An armed mob of dozens was unable to best it?

I think my extended family by itself could take that thing. We all get our twelve-gauges (perhaps the odd 30.06 for flavour), set up a kill-zone. Heck, even the kids could help-----------on balconies with their pellet guns and slingshots and all. Spiders have exoskeletons, man. Can you imagine how much a single load of buckshot would weaken a spindly exoskeletal leg supporting a ton of weight?

(EDIT2: I mean, even if we ran out of ammo, we'd still all have axes and sickles and sleans and adzes and bowie-knives and hawkbills and war-mattocks and kukris and anvils and ballbats and machetes and epees and bottles (so, so many bottles) and bricks and shurikens and lawnmowers and lirpas and rakes and chainsaws and zweihanders and sledgehammers and claw hammers and drywall hammers and ball-peen hammers and scrapers and m-80s and snowshovels and weed-whackers and bowling balls and hoes and masterwork shortsword +2s and folding chairs and tire irons and bike chains and water balloons and sjamboks and gunstocks and yardsticks and nadazgadas and molotovs and lawn darts and tennis racquets and bullwhips and swear-words and punching and thinking mean thoughts. Spider wouldn't stand a chancet in heck.)

(EDIT3: Also...I mean, we're Wisconsinites. My extended family is demi-redneck. Suffice it to say we have trucks. Presumably a few of us could just ram the spider with our SUVs and pick-ups. Maybe smush it betwixt vehicles, as though we were technologically advanced Ewoks? It bears thought.)

(EDIT4:...I could solo that thing. If it run up at me, and I had my store's straddle-stacker...I'd just stick it with the forks and run it up against a wall or somethin. Sumbitcht ain't goin nowhere no more after that. Then you go to town. Get out the hooks and crooks, and kill it by hook or by crook.

'RiffTrax Live! Santa Claus'

...still my favourite of the MST3K Santa trifecta. I like blisteringly insane Mexican Santa way better than annoying Martian-fighting Santa or the incompetent one who nearly loses his workshop to ersatz scrooge in the Netflix ep. Weird, weird movie, and Lupita is a sweetheart.

(EDIT: I really like how kind and empathetic Santa is. Like who cares if he's scary. He pauses to give the sad rich kid a nice loving little pep-talk, and then gently reproaches the kid's parents for being a little neglectful. And he looks genuinely unhappy for Lupita's situation, even as he celebrates her refusal to acquiesce to Shaitan's will. I like how he refers to the kids as his friends, and he literally risks death to get Lupita her dolly at the end. Man. What a good guy. You know, I'll come right out and admit it------I love Santa Claus. There, I said it, and I wouldn't take it back.)

10. The Lion King (1994) - 3/5

I sat down to watch this with my cat; figured he might like to see himself represented in a movie.

I know this is a lot of people's favorite movie from the Disney renaissance, but it's always been mid-tier to me. Fun story: this was apparently the first movie I ever saw in theaters! I say "apparently" because I would have been all of two years old when it came out and so I have zero memory of seeing it then. I also apparently ran up and down the aisles, which I was chastised for into my teenage years, because toddlers are so well-known for their ability to sit still for nearly two hours.

Also, yes, I still tear up at that scene. You know the one.

6. Train to Busan - I was NOT ready for how traumatic this movie is. Just saying. There was a point where I thought it was over and then paused it and noticed there were 30 freaking minutes left.

7. Clear and Present Danger - Never saw the sequel to Patriot Games before. I really liked it. Did not expect some things in the plot to happen, in a good way.

8. To Catch a Thief - I saw this when I was younger and remember liking it. I watched it a second time and didn't like it as much. Pretty dull, not one of Hitchcock's best films.

9. Charade - a million times more entertaining than To Catch a Thief. Audrey Hepburn is so amusing in this.

10. Misery - Great film. For some reason the video quality reminds me of a straight-to-DVD Hallmark movie. But great movie.

11. Se7en - The strange thing about this movie is that you can't tell it's made in 1995 (aside from a few seconds of obvious outdated technology). The quality of both the video and the movie itself feels so ahead of its time. I honestly thought it was an early 2000's movie when I saw references and clips to it. I was expecting something way more complicated but I kind of guessed what was going to happen by the end. Still very good.

12. Lupin III: The First - Standard Lupin movie fare BUT THE CGI IS SOOOOOO GOOOOD. IT'S SO PRETTY. EVERYTHING IS SO PRETTY. GOD, IT'S GORGEOUS

13. Pride & Prejudice (2005) - Having just finished reading the book for the first time before watching this movie, the pacing feels really off and some of the choices for how they did some scenes are really weird. The production and actors are great though. But the story feels too quick and they glossed over many things.

2. Parasite - holy F*****************!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Craziest movie I have seen in a long time

3. Patriot Games - I've seen it several times and wanted my girlfriend to watch it since she's into the Jack Ryan show but didn't know they did movies before. It was better for some reason the first few times I saw it. This time felt more average. I can't get over the fact that there's a scene that sounds hilarious out of context. Harrison Ford says "Tits" so dramatically.

4. Contagion - ahahahah I wanted to rewatch this because coronavirus. I felt more nervous the first couple times I watched it. This time I found myself asking more questions about the plot of some characters, which I find is really secondary in the movie. The primary thing the movie wants to "get right" is what would happen if the next big serious virus spreads.

5. Sonic the Hedgehog - welp, here it is folks. And I liked it. It felt similar to Detective Pikachu in the sense that it got the world right and the vibe right and all that, but the story lacked some sense and impact. Still looking forward to what they do next! Definitely above average video game movie.

Hey, good for you for watching 'Charade'. That right there is a bag of laughs. Fun phoney baloney take on Hitchcock--------such a good impersonation I needed to have someone prove to me with their phone it wasn't the genuine article.
