Spoiler.
I didn't watch the movies but saying "No. I'm Rey" would likely seem very corny, trite. I'd probably go blind rolling my eyes so hard.

Spoiler.
Her saying "I'm a Jedi" is too close to mimicking Luke facing Palpatine in Return of the Jedi, which made me dissatisfied. Saying she's Rey would cement the theme that she is neither Jedi nor Sith but her own person. Anakin's story ended with him being Vader, Luke with him being a Jedi, and Rey with her being herself - it would have been perfect IMO.

Don't think I'll be seeing it.

I've heard enough to know I'm not interested.

There's a million billion movies out there, many of them relatively unknown----------if I'm going to be disappointed, I'd rather it be a surprise.

The theme there would be fine and logical, but there'd have to be a better way to get that notion across at the end without beating everyone in the audience over the head with it by saying it so directly. Anakin didn't blurt out that he's Sith, he said everything but that, which of course indicated that he was. In RotS he told Obi "I'm not afraid of the Dark Side, like you" and "if you're not with me you're my enemy." It's all still very clear what transition he's made without him just spitting out "I'm Sith." A tad of subtlety.

Nothing wrong with a direct proclamation but it isn't how the other movies in the series handled that for the protagonists, so it's not consistent. Well, at least the prequels. I can hardly stay awake for the originals, they're very plodding.

I still think your change would've been better than her saying she's a Jedi like she did though, because that's redundant--we've already seen a story about a person who becomes a Jedi, so any other conclusion would've been better. Even her not saying anything at all, maybe with a look of hesitation and doubt on her face.

I think they just had no direction with the trilogy, I've read a bit about it and things certainly indicate that.

My thoughts in brief: I had issues with The Last Jedi but I loved the things it did well. There's nothing in this movie that makes me feeling anything similar. One of the criticisms I've heard time and time again about Last Jedi was that nothing happens (which is garbage). In this movie, everything happens. So much happened that one of the biggest f***ing plot developments in the entire series in Palpatine being back happened off-screen and is explained in the title crawl (unless you're paying attention to Fortnite tie-ins!). But despite so much happening, I didn't feel anything except when John Williams' score reminded me of better movies.

It's fine. It looks good. It sounds good. There are some ideas here that I thought they could've made something better out of. I still think the dynamic between Rey and Kylo Ren is great, even though it came across better in Last Jedi. Everybody in the cast does well. Skywalker felt like it was course-correcting from things that people hated from the last movie by trying to be everything to everybody and injecting a healthy dose of fanservice. When you combine that with it being the final film in the franchise and trying to tie everything in a nice little bow, you don't reach heights higher than "fine."

Might have more thoughts later, but I'm a Twitter user so I got tired of the Star Wars discourse two years ago.

One thing I will say about this film is that it's given me a new appreciation for The Last Jedi. No joke.

Even with the bits of that movie that I didn't like, there were still a lot of genuinely surprising moments. There was nothing surprising in The Rise of Skywalker.

I'm sure we can at least all agree that D-O was an adorable addition to the cast.

Spoiler.
The movie wasn't aggressively bad or anything but, yeah, I was pretty underwhelmed. They played everything way too safe.

I think what I'm most disappointed by, is that I really liked the direction they seemed to be going in the first two movies, showing that the force is with everyone, not just the jedi and sith, or that a hero could come from anywhere (why else would they show the kid with the broom at the end of TLJ?). I liked that Rey was just some girl who got swept up into this adventure. She was a nobody, she wasn't part of some famous lineage. Her place in the story was earned, not given.

And then this movie happened and threw that all out the window cause everyone has to be the daughter or brother or nephew's cousin's former roommate of a character we already know.

Ended up seeing this today with UN and AI. As someone who hasn't really kept up with the Star War, it was a confusing yet entertaining experience. The dialogue got ridiculous at points and I loved it.

Spoiler.
The real Star War was the friends we made along the way! Also the whole Kylo reviving/kiss/etc thing like... really? Why lol

I I'm in the minority in thinking that there had been romantic tension between them through the whole trilogy?

Unfortunately, this is Star Wars for you. :(

I remember getting into the expanded universe to find things like "Oh, don't need to read THIS book even though it takes place chronologically right after Return of the Jedi", "Would you like to play these video games that are out of print and don't work on your system to find out who I am?", and "For more information on who I am, please refer to this book that you've never heard of that your bookstores and libraries don't have... or just look up Wookiepedia."

And this trilogy is no stranger to this.
Spoiler.
Finn and Rose are suddenly just friends? Would you like to read this book to find out where this was established? The Force can heal wounds? Actually this was foreshadowed in both things like KOTOR and Dark Forces (A video game) and The Mandalorian (Airing on Disney Plus!). Transferring life into someone to rescue them? Oh, please refer to The Clone Wars (A TV series that aired over a decade ago) to find out where it was established that The Force could do this. And if you would like to know about Snoke, please take our Four Weeks Correspondence course - especially since we had contradicted a few things.
It feels like Abrams took the criticisms of TLJ and overcompensated by speeding things up - I mean saying nothing happened in TLJ is BS, but they're not wrong in saying that it is a much more slower-paced film. It felt like ROS was... basically 1.5 movies. Kinda like Pirates.

It's pretty bad for critic score but user score looks suspiciously high in comparison.

See I'm in the same boat. I feel like there was some definite romantic tension a few times. Especially when Rey immediately looks away distracted when he has no shirt on in the Last Jedi. One could interpret she was caught off guard for a moment enough to dull her initial anger and got embarrassed enough to ask him to cover-up. The fact that she takes a second to recover after he doesn't respond sends her over the edge and remembers why she's so angry.
