Cowboy Bebop is definitely great, but it isn't perfect. The story structure isn't for me, but everything else is so good that it doesn't matter much.

it's HILARIOUS but also very referential. Watch on Crunchyroll. Do you like Dragon Quest? Yes? Good. There are a lot of references to Dragon Quest. And obviously other stuff too. Series is mostly made up of unrelated story arcs, none of which are more than like, 8 episodes long, so it's really easy to leave off and pick up again.

Just wait until it comes crying to you with an 18 year long story arc, unless you talk them into cancellation.

Any anime that is on the air for more than 10 years deserves a nod of respect tbh. Imagine how many marriages and cups of coffee it's responsible for destroying. I haven't seen anything that seasoned since I watched Gordon Ramsey make the perfect burger on YouTube.

Re: Weeaboos Anonymous
I couldn't agree more that the show is hideous, but damn it has some heart. Seeing these two kids grow up together (assuming you stopped at Ep 2, it follows them through Middle School/High School) and following their struggles really got to my sentimental side.mushroom wrote: i watched the first ep and some of the second and it's ass. don't bother. really disappointing too cuz like they go into cool stuff like Final Fight scoring strats that lets you know the writer really loves arcade games, but the whole rest of the show is just repulsive to look at.
Buuuuuut, assuming you aren't an arcade nerd, I would instead recommend Kids on the Slope / Apollo of the Slope. It's directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, who is once again working with Yoko Kanno, so if you enjoyed Bebop you really are doing yourself a huge disservice by not watching this. Only 12 episodes at that.
It's a slice-of-life drama centered on unlikely friends that bond over a passion for Jazz, so way up Watanabe's alley. It's not a "sad" anime, but touched me so much I was a puddle by the end of the last episode.

Unfortunately, I will have to find "alternative methods" of watching Castlevania now because I won't engage with a platform that promotes garbage like "The First Temptation of Christ."

Man I'm glad my twitter feed has mostly shut up about Promare again because that legitimately was a really stylish and fun movie. It was just hard to get super into t when I was surrounded by 24/7 godawful discourse. But the storms have quieted and now I wanna rewatch it for the aesthetics and for Superfly's bomb ass solo

Re: Weeaboos Anonymous
I haven't watched Castlevania season 3 despite loving the first two, though I don't plan to. I didn't much mind them making Isaac black and gay, he was a secondary character and I know ya gotta snag those diversity points (and his sexual orientation was technically never established previously anyway). But now they made Alucard gay too for no good reason, that's just dumb.
Gonna get around to watching One Punch Man season 2 soon, I think, but I hope it's still good..I read they changed studios and that kinda thing irks me.

Re: Weeaboos Anonymous
So I never talked about the 'Street Fighter II' flick in this topic, and that was remiss of me, because it's jawsome.
Chun-Li vs Vega is easily the best scene in the movie. Possibly the best scene, period. Anyone who doesn't get hyped, seein those two maniacs goin round, with KMFDM---'Ultra' thumping away in the background, can pretty much scram. No son of mine.
...Chun-Li's so cool and tough. Man alive.

Isaac would have looked stupid as hell if they kept his shirtless emo redhead design from Curse of Darkness.I REALLY HATE POKEMON! wrote: ↑Thu Mar 19, 2020 7:52 pmI haven't watched Castlevania season 3 despite loving the first two, though I don't plan to. Re: Weeaboos Anonymous
I'm not really complaining about Isaac; although I always prefer that they use the original character designs and such, I liked Netflix's rendition of him. He was cool and looked unique among the cast.
I'm rather open to thoughtful reimaginings, which is why I liked Castlevania Judgement even though it seems to be a black sheep among the series. I'm pretty sure Isaac was mostly redesigned with a similar idea, being simply just to spice things up. It's not the direction I'd have taken but it's fine.
