I watched John Wick 3 on the plane back from vacation and loved it. The action and the characters are as cool as ever, and some of the shots stuck me as being especially beautifully put together.

Re: 88 MOVIES FOR 2019!!!!! WHO NEEDS A LIFE LET'S WATCH MOVIES!!!!!!!!
Took everybody out to 'Addams Family' on sunday.
You know, it was pretty good.
Dunno but I prefer it to the live-action flicks. That's a hard act to follow. We'll see.

77) The Shining - B+
78) 48 Christmas Wishes - F. My wife couldn't even stomach it, & she'll watch literally anything set at Christmas.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I watched Disney's 'Tarzan' for the first time the other day. I liked it lots.
Brian Blessed voiced Clayton. Brian Blessed is the man.

I think I saw that in theaters as a kid. All I remember is that it kinda bothered me that his bare feet were okay sliding around on trees.

Re: 88 MOVIES FOR 2019!!!!! WHO NEEDS A LIFE LET'S WATCH MOVIES!!!!!!!!
...Jane gets the panting hots for Tarzan, doesn't she. I mean, they sanitise it a little, but she was quite clearly smouldering. Even her dad (a pure imbecile) noticed it. Like, she goes from 'starched Victorian demoiselle with a passion for science' to 'gross unhygienic loinclout-wearing ape-woman' pretty fast.
Clayton's cool. I mean, he's transparently evil, and somehow he manages to outfox everybody. Are Jane and her dad literally retarded? How did they not notice?
...wait. Wait! It's the thin moustache! We see Clayton shave in the movie----------he doesn't let his moustache grow long enough that he can twirl it! Moustache-twirling is such an obvious villain tell! What cunning. No wonder he wrong-footed them all.

14. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark - 2 out of 5
Story is an absolute wreck. The book, even when separated from its existence in real life, is an awkward plot device. Having the framing story be the center of attention works to the detriment of the ability of the stories' content to have any real weight. They're just accessories to something else and the whole enterprise comes off as very gimmicky. Would have worked better as a straightforward anthology imo.

79) Head - A+
80) UHF - A+
81) A Miser Brothers' Christmas - C-. Points for the Misers' theme song & a couple legitimately good jokes. That's it.
82) Noelle - B+. Fun fluff. It was weird seeing Billy Eichner not just being a shrill irritant.
83) Santa Girl - C-. This is literally a promo film for Shenandoah University that they somehow managed to get Barry Bostwick in.
84) Legends of the Hidden Temple - B-. I hated every time the 3rd kid talked.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

10. Took the family and saw Frozen II today. I liked it a lot, actually. It's very pretty, some of the songs are really good (though others struck me as tedious), and the emotional parts landed with me.
11. I watched The Hitman's Bodyguard in Hulu for the first time tonight. It was pretty good. The banter is what you might expect from Reynolds and Jackson, and the action is not bad except for some shaky cam stuff.

Re: 88 MOVIES FOR 2019!!!!! WHO NEEDS A LIFE LET'S WATCH MOVIES!!!!!!!!
12. I watched The Spy Who Dumped Me. Hadn't heard of it before I saw it while surfing Hulu movie selections, but I gave it a chance for having Mila Kunis & Kate McKinnon. Not bad. Not likely to end up especially memorable.
13. I watched It: Chapter 1. Back when this came out I thought I'd hate it. I hadn't liked the Pennywise design at all. I like it a lot better in action, and with Bill Skarsgård's performance. I like the Losers Club cast too. It reminds me a lot more of Stranger Things (I liked this better) than the Tim Curry adaptation. And I didn't find it frightening like I remember the Tim Curry adaptation. It's probably a lot to do with my age, but I suspect not entirely. It always really unsettled my how the adults were either turning a blind eye or actively being harmful when those kids could have used their help most. That's not absent from this version, but it didn't hit me the same way.

Re: 88 MOVIES FOR 2019!!!!! WHO NEEDS A LIFE LET'S WATCH MOVIES!!!!!!!!
Just realized I actually counted a couple films twice along the way this year, so this post's numbers are now correct:
83) Klaus - A-. Best new Xmas film of the year, calling it now.
84) The Santa Clause - B+
85) Frozen - B
86) Frozen II - B+. A little bit Fifth Element, a little bit Ragnarok. Definite improvement on its predecessor, wife & I (both musicians) busted up during Kristoff's solo while the rest of the theater (parents & children alike) was dead silent.
87) Triple Frontier - B-. Not especially memorable; in fact, I actually watched it a few months ago & straight-up forgot to list it until now.

And finally:
88) Every Day - B+. Not bad. Strong first act. A's portrayal suffers slightly as a couple of their hosts are weaker actors than others.
The whole bloody affair:

Re: 88 MOVIES FOR 2019!!!!! WHO NEEDS A LIFE LET'S WATCH MOVIES!!!!!!!!
I watched Blade Runner for the first time. Not sure which of the versions, just basic one I guess, no narration. It was good, sure, but not something I understand people liking so much. The atmosphere and world building is nice, but the characters aren't particularly good and it has story a bafflingly basic story. I certainly enjoyed it but the pace is a little slow for me, I'll probably enjoy the narration filling in the down time when I rewatch it.

14. I watched Kingsman: The Secret Service. It was fun, but it's kind of a collection of things other films do better. And the most enjoyable character to watch doesn't get much screen time after that church fight (which was a great scene).
