Hanna-Barbera.

What are your thoughts on Hanna-Barbera? On one hand, they did make Tom and Jerry, which was genuinely good, they essentially created the animated sitcom with Flintstones and Wait Till Your Father Gets Home, and Butch Hartman and Seth MacFarlane came from HB. On the other hand, they made a lot of cheaply animated cartoons and recycled a lot of their own premises. I mean, how many times did they copy the Scooby-Doo formula?

A lot of creative ideas, but a lot of lazy execution of those ideas, followed years later by some highly entertaining deconstructions/subversions of those ideas.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I was just going to write Hanna-Barbera off as mostly old, second-rate cartoons despite kinda liking some when I was a kid, but I forgot about the great Adult Swim stuff.

The only Hanna-Barbera cartoon I never really liked was Scooby-Doo. I always got bored watching it and thought it was stupid and cheesy and dumb.

I really admire how they managed to get so much out of their limited animation portfolio in the old stuff they produced.

Most time their writing team was not allowed to go that extra mile to get stuff good.

Oh and they made cats on a plane, i mean 2 feline felons..... I mean Swatkats.

Tom and Jerry

Wacky Races

Everything else

Trash

That's just me. Every episode of The Flintstones and The Jetsons in existence could fall into a pit of lava and I wouldn't bat an eyelash.
