Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle - 7/10
Like most people I went in expecting garbage, but actually got a good number of laughs. Jack Black stole the show IMHO.

Atomic Blonde -7/10
The action and style were enjoyable (especially the climactic fight) but most of the movie is forgettable after the fact.

Pan's Labyrinth - 9/10
Wow, I did not expect a movie about fairy tales to be so heavy and brutal. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Baby Driver - 9/10
Like all of Edgar Wright's movies, you could tell every little decision in the cinematography, the editing, the music, etc., was deliberate. Very well done, and fun as hell.

Nerve - 4/10
Tried to be a commentary on social media and viral "challenges" but was mostly just a watered down teen thriller.

Black Panther - 8/10
A great change of pace for superhero movies, and Killmonger is up there with Vulture as one of Marvel's best villains.

Annihilation - 9.5/10
Freaking fantastic. The visuals were beautiful, the atmosphere was wonderfully eerie, and above all, it knew how to be scary. It's everything I could want from a sci-fi horror.

The scene with the mutated bear mimicking a woman screaming for help was one of the creepiest things I've ever seen and I loved it.

I've been hoping to watch more movies by this point but life is happening and I just haven't been able to watch them yet.

License to Wed is a pretty generic romcom. Probably didn't deserve the super negative reviews it got, but it's not great either. Futile and Stupid Gesture has some interesting ideas for a biopic (especially for one about Lampoon] but it's disappointing from Wain honestly. Final Sanction is very classic David A. Prior cheesy bad b-action movie stuff. I ran down my Black Panther thoughts in the MCU topic. Purple Rain is hard to give just a B because the soundtrack is the greatest album of all time, but as a whole film it's... not quite up to par.

I forgot I watched 'Chicken Little' with the kids out in Dakota. That makes eighteen.

...Chicken Little's father may be the most loathesome character Disney has ever created. Worse than Mushu in 'Mulan II', worse than that asshead Elsa. He is pure sh*tty slimy garbage, and I hate his filthy guts. What a turd.

I mean, the rest of the movie isn't great, but Chicken Little's dad in particular can go eat a grilled dick sandwich, the complete coward cuss. Ugh.

0/10, solely because of him. Screw that guy.

I've probably seen around 5-6 more movies in the span since my last post but can't remember any of them. The first group is stuff we watched on choir tour so it tended to be Disney and/or musicals. At least it was decent taste in both. The rest of the stuff was stuff I watched while back in Michigan with my family who are currently going through the MCU again. Ragnarok has slowly become one of my favorite movies in the MCU and I like Guardians Vol. 2 with every viewing more too. Doctor Strange doesn't hold up.

I also saw Pacific Rim: Uprising in theaters. It's an incredibly dumb film, and I'm not sure if I mean that in a positive or negative way yet. Like the dumb robots are cool but even for a movie where the plot barely should matter, the script just ****ing baffled me. I don't get it.

It's actually a little refreshing to see a Best Picture winner that doesn't go for any profound or topical message, it's just an engaging story from start to finish. Also Sally Hawkins is amazing in this and she doesn't say a single word.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle - 8/10
Just as over-the-top and insane as the first one. I loved it.

Under the Skin - ?/10
I feel bad cause I usually enjoy these slow, cerebral type of movies, and I really wanted to like it, but, I don't know, I didn't get this one. There just wasn't enough there to make me care about what was going on, or even understand what was going on.

My Little Pony: The Movie - 6/10
*cough* So um, am I the only MLP fan still on this site? Anyways, if you care what I thought, it was... alright. It was basically a 90 minute episode of the show with better animation, and as far as that goes... I've watched actual episodes of the show that I liked better.

A Quiet Place - 8.5/10
I love when a horror movie gets me in the same mindset as the characters. Similar to how It Follows had you watching every person walking in the background, this movie had you dreading any little noise being made.

Avengers: Infinity War - 10/10
This is the only movie I've ever watched that was so good that it ruined my day. Like... what do I even do after this? It feels wrong to do anything when I know nothing will top the emotional experience I just had. But um, yeah, it was good, it was really freaking good.

1. The Fantastic Four: no, not the latest one, not even the ones before that, I'm talking about the underground, never-officially-released crappy production from like 1993. I got it a long time ago at Comic Con NYC. It's so bad but so good. There's no way to really rate this other than to say "LOL".

2. The Post: B+ Decided to watch some Oscar-nominated movies. Typical Spielberg fare. Good stuff.

3. Phantom Thread: A. Just jumped into this not knowing what it was. I enjoyed it more than The Post.

4. Iron Man: A. I'm rewatching all the Marvel movies in order to prep for Infinity War. This was it - this was how Marvel Studios started.

5. Iron Man 2: B+ A lot of people hated this movie but I honestly love it. I love Stark being a stubborn dick about nobody helping him as he's slowly being poisoned, and ending up doing crazy things because screw it, he might die soon, and then trying to reconcile with Pepper. (*Cough*maybebecauseipersonallyidentifywiththatsentiment*cough*) It's still really enjoyable and after all debuts Nick Fury and Black Widow. By the way, I don't think ScarJo ever looked as good again as she does here playing Black Widow.

6. The Incredible Hulk: C- So the last time I saw this was in theaters. That's how long I haven't seen it. I rewatched it and oh my God - it's so bad compared to the other Marvel movies. Even as just a superhero movie - it's so bland. Bruce Banner doesn't feel like he has any character - I almost felt like I was watching some generic Jason Bourne-like movie of a guy with special skills on the run from the government. Mark Ruffalo definitely added some more character to Bruce Banner, some more awkwardness. This was just blaaaaaaand. Bland, bland, bland. Oh my Lord.

7. Thor: B+ Ah, when I watched this immediately after The Incredible Hulk it was so refreshing. SO refreshing. The humor, the setup, the plot. Could just be a tiny bit better to be on part with the first Iron Man. But it's great anyway.

8. Captain America: The First Avenger: B, Liked it more this time. I still am of the opinion that the story dips in the second half. It goes into "montage-mode" of Captain America just blowing **** up.

9. The Avengers: A, Classic. Doesn't get old. Marvel really paid off on building up the universe here.

10. Iron Man 3: C+, Many people liked it. I didn't like it that much. It's not just because I didn't like what they did with The Mandarin. I feel the plot isn't that strong. Tony Stark teams up with some seven year-old kid investigating some murders. Okay.

11. Thor: The Dark World: C+ Your standard fantasy action movie. Nothing that amazing. The first ten minutes is needless exposition. You can remove it and still understand the movie.

12. Captain America: The Winter Soldier: B, Hm. Not sure if I consider this better or worse than The First Avenger. I may think of them somewhat equal.

13. Guardians of the Galaxy: A, Fresh new stuff. Ending always makes me tear a bit.

14. Avengers: Age of Ultron: C, Ughghghghghg I consider this the second worst after The Incredible Hulk. They crammed way too much into one movie. All over the place.

15. Ant-Man: B, The silliest of the lot and also some plot holes but overall stands well.

16. Captain America: Civil War: A, Despite being a good movie, it's one of those movies that heavily relies on you watching everything else.

17. Doctor Strange: B+, Another standard becoming-a-superhero movie. They could have done a couple things better but for the most part - good stuff.

18. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2.: A, as good as the first one IMO.

19. Spider-man Homecoming: B+, Uses one certain annoying trope I'm tired of seeing. However, Michael Keaton is really good.

20. Thor: Ragnarok: B, Thought some things could have flowed better. Very funny movie though. Although at times I think the humor could have been downplayed to actually have a serious moment.

22. Ready Player One: C-, Ugh. Somehow this is worse than the book. They stripped down any intellectual part of the book and focused only on the explosions and the 80's references. A fast-paced mess.

23. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: B- I like to revisit this movie every year. After rereading the entire book series, it really shed some new light on it. It definitely goes by too quickly. But I still think it's underrated and should have had a shot at a sequel.

24. The Karate Kid: A, Never saw it before, surprisingly. Really good movie. Abrupt ending.

25. The Karate Kid Part II: C+, I'm actually surprised how low of a rating it got. I didn't think it was THAT bad. It did focus a lot more on Mr. Miyagi than Danny, so that could have been reworked.

26. A Quiet Place: A, Really good. Not so much scary horror but suspenseful and tense.

27. Avengers: Infinity War: A-, Whew. Man. Whew.

28. The Foreigner: B, Thought there would be some more umph to it. I didn't feel like it was a thriller. Didn't get that tense feeling as the climax approached.

Infinity War was almost perfect for the kind of big crossover movie it is. I was really impressed with how well they balanced everything, especially considering how disjointed Age of Ultron and Civil War were at times. Deadpool 2 was a fun enough time. I'm not as big on Deadpool as some but it was worth a $5 ticket. Throughout the past few months, my friends and I have been watching various raunchy comedies, mostly of the Judd Apatow variety (so, actually good). I'm sure I'm missing a bunch of movies somewhere in here.

31. Despicable Me 3: B, I didn't think it was as bad as people said it was. Missing something but otherwise still good.

32. The Fast and the Furious: B, This is a solid B movie. Not horrible but not amazing either. People often compare it to Point Break but I enjoy this more than Point Break. It's a completely different animal from the rest of the series. I like to see this similar to the first Matrix. They even have a team similar to the team in the first Matrix movie. Everything about it screams late 90's/early 00's. The camera direction is swift and slick. Vin Diesel carries his legendary character all the way through since day one.

33. 2 Fast 2 Furious: D+, This movie was actually meant to be a parody, and it definitely feels like one. The silly animated opening title gives away the fact that this movie is a joke. The conflict between the FBI and the local police makes little sense. The general outline has potential but it's riddle with just randomness. There's a part where they have ejector seats and it's just so corny.

34. The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift: B+, This is basically "The Horse and his Boy" of the series, if you will. Justin Lin's first foray into the series is quite good. It has an added depth with the characters that wasn't there in the original. However, there's an issue with the plot where they try to have two things going on - gang drama and the protagonist getting involved with the antagonist's girlfriend. The two things kind of muddle the movie like the writers didn't know how to effectively tie them up. If they had flesh those out more and made more sense out of it, this could have easily been the best one in the series.

35. Fast and Furious: C-, This is where everything changed. Where the series went from street racing drama to all-out-physics-defying-action. The whole deal with Letty could have been laid out better. Like way better.

36. Fast Five: A, Definitely the best of the series. Right here. Smack in the middle. It changes the lives of the characters drastically and has huge implications further on. Cementing O'Connor to a life of a fugitive was a great decision, and the stakes are high as everyone tries to find a way out with a huge heist.

37. Fast and Furious 6: B, Dom and his team are given the chance to clear their names after taking down a terrorist. Great villain. We're now cementing into the ridiculous off-the-walls action and have completely forsaken the racing aspect.

38. Furious Seven: B-, Owen Shaw, the villain of the previous movie, didn't have a code of family. Now his brother went out of hiding to avenge him. I don't know if the irony was intentional or not. The final act has so much action that I honestly was starting to have a seizure. I can't believe how long this movie is. 2 hours and 20 minutes. My brain was mush by the end. Most of it is good though. And the rest is just too much. The final fight could have ended better. Dom's "The street always wins" comment is just---lol. The goodbye to Paul Walker at the end pulled heartstrings. Story-wise though, it makes little sense. Kind of breaks the fourth wall too much. The characters act as if O'Connor is dead when in reality they can just visit him whenever - not like anything is stopping that.

39. The Fate of the Furious: C+, Not as bad but has some annoying flaws. I felt conflicted. I kept switching between "C+" or "B-". A couple villains from previous installments make a return and are suddenly. . .the good guys???? Not only that but I kind of enjoyed their banter and appearance? But at the same time. . .they killed many innocent lives before so. . .??? Uggghhh I don't know how to feel! I enjoyed Charlize Theron's character. Helen Mirren's character was kind of out of nowhere. Needed more screen time IMO, or at least better establishment.

40. Deadpool: A, classic by now.

41. Deadpool 2: A-, still great, just a notch lower than the first.

42. Incredibles 2: A-, holy moly this was awesome. I really actually want to see this again. The only weak part was the villain's origin story/motivation.

43. Solo: B+, honestly, I loved it. I enjoyed it all. Has rough bits here and there that could have been smoothed out, but people compare this unfairly to Rogue One for whatever stupid reason. I always wanted a Han Solo movie. I grew up reading the EU stories. I was satisfied with this.

Haven't been able to see movies in general because I'm just been constantly traveling to weddings for the past month. On my latest Ghostbusters rewatch I liked it mostly but I feel like a lot of it hasn't aged particularly well. I had never seen Battlefield Earth so I checked it out and it kinda disappointed me as far as "so bad they're good" movies go. Travolta's performance is of course atrocious and some of the special effects are disastrous but it didn't keep me hooked. Miracle might honestly be my favorite sports movie. You know exactly what happens and it's very cliche but something about it just wraps you up in the drama no matter how many times you see it. I'm not a huge horror guy and when I do watch one I prefer "artsier" stuff like It Follows or The Babadook but for a mainstream jump-scare fest, It was pretty good. Visuals for the most part were cool-looking though at some points they looked silly. Bill Skarsgard was great as Pennywise and all the child actors were good as well.

Bad Boys is worse than I remember it, and Julie's unbearable character is maybe the worst in a history of terribly-written female characters in Bay films. It Follows was a rewatch, and it remains a really fresh, fun horror movie with a killer soundtrack. Deep Blue Sea is goofy fun. It drags at points, but the Jackson death scene and LL Cool J's terrible theme song for it are enough to keep me liking it. A Quiet Place is an overall pretty good horror film that's boosted by stellar tension-building and a very interesting concept. Boogie Nights is great. Maybe a bit too long but I know if I want succinct films I shouldn't watch Paul Thomas Anderson. Moon is a solid sci-fi movie with one of Sam Rockwell's best performances. Coco is a contender for best Pixar movie. It made me bawl for hours. Bangkok Dangerous is a relatively boring Cage thriller. I was expecting more unhinged Cage. Obvious Child deals with a touchy subject well and has some very funny moments, but despite the subject matter it doesn't feel like more than a standard romantic comedy. There's probably a time in my life where I would've loved the silliness of Crank: High Voltage, but this was way too over-the-top to the point where it wasn't fun. Locke has a very interesting concept and a great turn from Tom Hardy but those things weren't enough to keep me engaged. Full Metal Jacket at one point was probably one of my favorite films, but on subsequent watches I've realized it becomes too unfocused once they're out of training.

19. 'Teen Titans Go! to the Movies'-----------blehhh/10

So I offered to take the kids to the movies, like, as a fun treat for them, and they chose this.

It was like two-thirds charming and clever, and one-third excruciating. Think it's pretty clear they wanted to put their best foot forward, here, like, to justify the price of admission and make things at least tolerable for the adults in the audience (if this had just been like a ninety-minute version of that damn waffles ep, I'd have had to wait out in the hall of the multiplex, lest blood should start shootin out my ears).

The kids loved it, natch. I'd probably have loved it if I were a goony little nine-year-old, too.

1. The Fantastic Four: no, not the latest one, not even the ones before that, I'm talking about the underground, never-officially-released crappy production from like 1993. I got it a long time ago at Comic Con NYC. It's so bad but so good. There's no way to really rate this other than to say "LOL".

2. The Post: B+ Decided to watch some Oscar-nominated movies. Typical Spielberg fare. Good stuff.

3. Phantom Thread: A. Just jumped into this not knowing what it was. I enjoyed it more than The Post.

4. Iron Man: A. I'm rewatching all the Marvel movies in order to prep for Infinity War. This was it - this was how Marvel Studios started.

5. Iron Man 2: B+ A lot of people hated this movie but I honestly love it. I love Stark being a stubborn dick about nobody helping him as he's slowly being poisoned, and ending up doing crazy things because screw it, he might die soon, and then trying to reconcile with Pepper. (*Cough*maybebecauseipersonallyidentifywiththatsentiment*cough*) It's still really enjoyable and after all debuts Nick Fury and Black Widow. By the way, I don't think ScarJo ever looked as good again as she does here playing Black Widow.

6. The Incredible Hulk: C- So the last time I saw this was in theaters. That's how long I haven't seen it. I rewatched it and oh my God - it's so bad compared to the other Marvel movies. Even as just a superhero movie - it's so bland. Bruce Banner doesn't feel like he has any character - I almost felt like I was watching some generic Jason Bourne-like movie of a guy with special skills on the run from the government. Mark Ruffalo definitely added some more character to Bruce Banner, some more awkwardness. This was just blaaaaaaand. Bland, bland, bland. Oh my Lord.

7. Thor: B+ Ah, when I watched this immediately after The Incredible Hulk it was so refreshing. SO refreshing. The humor, the setup, the plot. Could just be a tiny bit better to be on part with the first Iron Man. But it's great anyway.

8. Captain America: The First Avenger: B, Liked it more this time. I still am of the opinion that the story dips in the second half. It goes into "montage-mode" of Captain America just blowing **** up.

9. The Avengers: A, Classic. Doesn't get old. Marvel really paid off on building up the universe here.

10. Iron Man 3: C+, Many people liked it. I didn't like it that much. It's not just because I didn't like what they did with The Mandarin. I feel the plot isn't that strong. Tony Stark teams up with some seven year-old kid investigating some murders. Okay.

11. Thor: The Dark World: C+ Your standard fantasy action movie. Nothing that amazing. The first ten minutes is needless exposition. You can remove it and still understand the movie.

12. Captain America: The Winter Soldier: B, Hm. Not sure if I consider this better or worse than The First Avenger. I may think of them somewhat equal.

13. Guardians of the Galaxy: A, Fresh new stuff. Ending always makes me tear a bit.

14. Avengers: Age of Ultron: C, Ughghghghghg I consider this the second worst after The Incredible Hulk. They crammed way too much into one movie. All over the place.

15. Ant-Man: B, The silliest of the lot and also some plot holes but overall stands well.

16. Captain America: Civil War: A, Despite being a good movie, it's one of those movies that heavily relies on you watching everything else.

17. Doctor Strange: B+, Another standard becoming-a-superhero movie. They could have done a couple things better but for the most part - good stuff.

18. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2.: A, as good as the first one IMO.

19. Spider-man Homecoming: B+, Uses one certain annoying trope I'm tired of seeing. However, Michael Keaton is really good.

23. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: B- I like to revisit this movie every year. After rereading the entire book series, it really shed some new light on it. It definitely goes by too quickly. But I still think it's underrated and should have had a shot at a sequel.

24. The Karate Kid: A, Never saw it before, surprisingly. Really good movie. Abrupt ending.

25. The Karate Kid Part II: C+, I'm actually surprised how low of a rating it got. I didn't think it was THAT bad. It did focus a lot more on Mr. Miyagi than Danny, so that could have been reworked.

26. A Quiet Place: A, Really good. Not so much scary horror but suspenseful and tense.

27. Avengers: Infinity War: A-, Whew. Man. Whew.

44. Tomb Raider: B-, I forgot to put this earlier. I thought it was one of the better video game movies. Still had issues. Annoying ones. Alicia Vikander did a good job.

47. Tag: C+, It felt sooo close to being a great, unique comedy but it fell short of the mark. It had heart and the humor was there but it just...started to fall apart near the end. The actual ending was great. But there were one too many bumps along the way that made me go ehhhhhh.

48. Jurassic Park: A+, One of my favorite movies of all times. Obvious classic. I can honestly think of nothing wrong in this movie.

49. Jurassic Park: The Lost World: B, Still entertaining since it's Spielberg. More of an adventure film than anything.

50. Jurassic World: B-, Without Spielberg's slick camera work and smart direction, you lose a lot. Like, even The Lost World had it strengths compared to this. Elements were there but not fully fleshed out.

51. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom: C, It. Ugh. It was. I mean. Ugh. Moving on.

52. Ant-Man and the Wasp: B+, Good stuff

53. Mission: Impossible: A, One of my favorite movies. Grew up watching this a lot.

54. Mission: Impossible III: B, (Skipped II for obvious reasons) The real highlight was Phillip Seymour Hoffman. This made me miss him. I was like "Oh yeah that's right, he was a really sinister villain in this movie." The rest is JJ Abrams being JJ Abrams. Which can be annoying.

55. Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol: A-, This one grew on me this time. I liked it more.

56. Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation: A, I love this one. I think it's the most unique ones of the series.

57. Mission: Impossible - Fallout: A, JESUS CHRIST. I saw this several weeks ago and even now when I think about it, it still just wows me. I feel conflicted because Tom Cruise is weird - but let's just say this - he's weird and crazy with his Scientology **** but thank God he's not some creep. He's just weird and crazy. Tom Cruise is one of the few actors who goes hardcore for stunts like this. He makes it an art form. The ending got quite ridiculous and I would normally take points off for it were it not for the fact that EVERYTHING ELSE IS BALLS TO THE WALL CRAZY GOOD INSANE.

'Sausage Party' was actually pretty funny and charming. Probably not worth the bad biz it took to get made. 'Day After Tomorrow' is competent, but dull. 'Sharknado' is absolute sh*t. And I say that as a fan of really stupid movies. It's just revolting.

23. 'Venom'--------------10/10

Incredibly entertaining. I won't claim it's some cinematic masterpiece, nor that it's faithful to the source material, but hey-------------if you want a movie that sacrifices watchability on the altar of faithfulness to the comics, you can always watch 'Spider-Man 3'.

Had awesome action sequences, and great comic timing in general. Think I might buy this one when it comes out.

They tease a sequel at the end. Hope 'Venom' gets sufficient box-office to make that possible. (EDIT: Oh, man. 'Venom's making an absolute killing. Cool.)
