Hazbin Hotel

#1

(warning: naughty language)

Hell is overpopulated. This is dealt with by periodically exterminating a portion of its citizens. But the princess of Hell, Charlie, wants to find a more humane solution to the overpopulation problem, and thus opens a hotel with the intent of rehabilitating sinners so they can be sent to Heaven.

Hazbin Hotel is an upcoming adult comedy/musical web animation series by Vivienne Medrano (author of Zoophobia). I gotta say, I really like what I've seen so far. The characters are interesting and funny, the music (by Gooseworx) is great, and the artstyle is cool. It's so refreshing to see an adult cartoon with an inspired and unique design, rather than that vapid Family Guy artstyle that keeps popping up.

Coming in 2019...

I'm a big fan of Vivzie, man. Have been ever since I saw 'Timber', and her 'Die Young' vid. Love her style. HH looks rad.

I don't know, I typically shy away from this kind of hell-based stuff. Makes me a bit uncomfortable unless someone is slaying everything down there or escaping from it or something. Then again, I lake puns a lot.
Spoiler.
...Get it? "Lake" of Fire? As in, Hell?

I never heard of Vivzie until a friend brought up Hazbin Hotel to my attention because of my animation named Space Hotel, and how the two are centered around hotels, but are ultimately extremely different ideas. Regardless, it looks absolutely wonderful. I have to admit though that I tapped out about a quarter of the way through because the second I saw how long the pilot was I thought "I don't really have time for this right now so I'll probably watch the rest later" but then still haven't got around to it. I'm surprised how long the pilot is.

I've watched it about 4 times now.

The pilot is kind of long, but it's better as one long episode rather than trying to make it 2 shorter episodes.

So, I've taken advantage of my horrible food poisoning to finally sit down and watch the pilot, and it's unbelievably rad.

So, anyone else seen 'Addict'? Apparently some fans made a song about Angel and Cherri, and Vivzie and her homies liked it so much that they turned it into a (possibly canonical?) animated music video. It's pretty grim. Good, but...you know. Read the disclaimer.

I saw it, but didn’t know the story behind it.

That song’s gonna be stuck in my head for a while.

Yeah.

...I'm glad HH is fertile ground for darker storytelling, but I prefer things a little lighter. Hope HH proper and 'Helluva Boss' stay kind of punchy and bouncy.
