^^Deadpool is, as he ever was, a wild card in all of this. As for Quicksilver, they could just...not bring him back. The comics constantly flip-flop on whether Wanda & Pietro even ARE mutants, so the MCU continuity can just say they're not & leave him dead.

^That's a good point. The hatred of powered people on SHIELD/Inhumans, though, is based on public misconceptions that Inhumans are either an invading army or infected by an alien disease. And on Netflix, it seems to be only a fringe minority who think that all powered people somehow caused the invasion of New York.

It might be wise to tone things down a little, though. The three-movies-a-year thing is only flying right now because the public (a) has been invested in this story arc for a long time already & (b) understands at least subconsciously that it was done to get the arc finished before certain actors (RDJ, SLJ, Ruffalo) got too old to keep doing action roles. But after this, they're still expecting to post 3 movies a year at least through 2022. Well, what if some of those aren't MCU films? Some could be X-Films instead. (And we don't need an X-Men installment every year, really.)

Also worth noting: This completed merger loosens up restrictions on Runaways; Molly can now openly be called a mutant, & Xavin (who is a Super-Skrull) can show up once they reach that point in the plot.

BTW, the season finale of Cloak & Dagger is this Thursday evening on Freeform (then on Hulu the next morning, which is how I've been watching it). After that, the next concrete release date is Iron Fist S2 on 9/7. And after THAT, the next concrete release date (so far) is Captain Marvel next March.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Been a while since any news, but we just got a premiere window for Agents of SHIELD S6: July 2019, so likely right after Far From Home opens.

Edit to add: I missed this the other day, but Runaways S2 comes out on December 21st.

Someone should make a movie out of that 'X-Men vs. Fantastic Four' comic.

I mean, they're never going to make a good 'Fantastic Four' movie, and they're never gonna make use of any of them third-stringer eighties X-Men no one but me likes. (Or is Marvel secretly banking on a huge 'Dazzler, Longshot, Psylocke, Havoc, Shadowcat and Magneto the good guy' movie? Because they probably shouldn't be.) Nah. So scrape these leavings up together and do something good with 'em for once, why not.

Iron Fist S2 was actually pretty good. The new crew put a lot of effort into fixing S1's problems organically, & Danny doesn't suck anymore (though Ward & Colleen are still way better characters). Typhoid Mary was an excellent addition, & I never thought they'd actually go through with

making Colleen the new Iron Fist.

Oh, by the way, the first Captain Marvel trailer debuted on GMA this morning. In case anyone cares about that. ;)

(Here's a poster, too.)
Spoiler.

Variety is reporting (without a source, & without comment from Disney/Marvel) that Marvel Studios--meaning the film division, not the TV division which is still part of Marvel Entertainment--is planning to make a batch of miniseries for the new Disney Streaming Service to further develop supporting film characters like Loki & Scarlet Witch.

A different part of the rumor mill says that Disney will use the reorganization period of the Fox merger to move Marvel TV over to Marvel Studios' control anyway.

In more substantiated but less interesting news, The Eternals has a director.

We also now have a release date trailer for Daredevil S3: October 19th.

The first trailer for Runaways S2 suggests that our young heroes are actually gonna DO SOMETHING this time. :)

NYCC is this weekend. Marvel will be there. Hoping for either the Avengers 4 title or a New Warriors pickup.

Timeline is updated to catch up all the released Netflix content and to adjust C&D based on new evidence that it happens in 2015 instead of 2017.

Confirmed Upcoming, With Release Dates:
--Daredevil S3 (19 Oct 2018)
--Runaways S2 (21 Dec 2018)
--Captain Marvel (8 Mar 2019)
--Avengers 4 (3 May 2019)
--Spider-Man: Far From Home (5 July 2019)

Also Confirmed Upcoming, But No Dates Yet:
--The Punisher S2 (early 2019)
--Cloak & Dagger S2 (spring 2019)
--Agents of SHIELD S6 (July 2019)
--Jessica Jones S3 (2019)
--New Warriors (2019?)
--Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 (????)
--Black Widow (????)
--The Eternals (????)
--Doctor Strange 2 (????)
--Black Panther 2 (????)

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

NYCC 2018 has come & gone. Marvel talked a lot about their comics & animation (Vayntrub was present for the Marvel Rising cartoon panel, but said nothing about New Warriors), but basically said jack about the MCU, other than dropping this full trailer for Daredevil S3 at a panel for the show, confirming Bullseye as if we didn't all know that already. (This Fisk teaser is cool too, though.)

A few weeks back, however, Mike Colter went on the record about plans for Luke Cage S3, so even though nothing's been confirmed by Netflix yet, we know that Marvel TV has gears in motion there.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Surprise announcement yesterday: Despite a massive boost in both critical reception & viewership in its 2nd season, Iron Fist has been cancelled by Netflix.

....BUT: The exact same day, Netflix's official Iron Fist Twitter account posted a teaser of the story continuing, implying that the show is just being rebranded into something else. Perhaps a story about the Immortal Weapons in general, perhaps a Daughters Of The Dragon spinoff, perhaps a Heroes For Hire spinoff....we'll see. [The linked article also suggests Moon Knight or Blade, but the nature of Marvel's expiring deal with Netflix means that those shows could only happen if those characters popped up on an existing show first (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, or Punisher) & got spun-off.]

Side note: The Defenders was unofficially cancelled a few weeks back when all of its social media pages were rebranded to NX, the umbrella label Netflix is using for its sci-fi/fantasy productions. Very few people were expecting a 2nd season of Defenders anyway, since it had always been advertised as a one-time event & even Marvel themselves were on record as not having any plans to that end.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

The LACC schedule is up; they will have panels for Agents of SHIELD, Runaways, & Marvel Studios visual-development director. We may see something interesting there.

Upcoming this year:
Daredevil S3 (Netflix) - THIS FRIDAY 10/19
Runaways S2 (Hulu) - 12/21

DD3 is up, & it's good!

...But at the exact same time, Netflix announced that they've cancelled Luke Cage too.
This still lends a lot of weight towards Heroes for Hire and/or Daughters of the Dragon. We shall see.

It was revealed today that Marvel is discussing a Bucky/Falcon team-up miniseries for the Disney Streaming Service, alongside the rumored Loki & Scarlet Witch shows. This would solve the problem of what to do with the rest of Sebastian Stan's contract, since....ya know....but it also would mean that neither of them will take up Chris Evans's shield anytime soon.

We now head into our first MCU drought month since June 2017. If big news pops up, it'll come here; otherwise, we are adrift until Runaways S2 in late December.

Speaking of news: Ryan North (writer of Dinosaur Comics, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, & the Adventure Time comics), spoke at LibraryCon, including talking about how he's seen parts of the New Warriors pilot, loved it, & knows that it's still on the table.
It's November; this thing's not coming out in 2018, but hopes are still high for it to show up on Disney's new streaming service next year.

EDIT TO ADD: All of a sudden, we have a name for the streaming service, too: Disney+. Like Google+, but people might actually use it. Also, the rumored Loki miniseries is now officially confirmed.

RIP Stanley Martin Lieber, aka Stan Lee, 1922-2018

Stan was just a month & a half shy of his 96th birthday. His roles for the next couple MCU movies have already been filmed. He is survived by his daughter Joan Celia Lee, his brother Larry Lieber, & his legacy of Marvel Comics creations.

And remember,....

Dude Samuel L Jackson looks like he could be in his mid to late 30s in that picture. He's gonna be 70 in December. I'll have what he's having.

He's having "Disney de-aging vfx" with a side of "healthy living" & just a dash of "black don't crack".

So, remember how Agents of SHIELD got renewed at the last second for a shortened 6th season which will air next summer?
Well, here we are, 8 months before that airs, & IT'S ALREADY BEEN RENEWED FOR A 7th SEASON, which will also be short & will air in summer 2020.

In other "holycrapholycrap" news, we might finally have a new director for GotG 3.

Today, Titan is releasing Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years, an official sourcebook supposedly containing the "official" timeline of the films. But it's wrong, & we're ignoring it.
[It has Black Panther placed a full year after Civil War, despite (a) the film explicitly stating it begins just a week later, and (b) that full-year move would leave Wakanda without a monarch FOR A FULL YEAR. It also has Infinity War placed almost a year earlier, even though that directly contradicts the 2-year house-arrest that Ant-Man & Hawkeye are about to come off of.]
It's worth noting that, since the book is focused on Marvel Studios, it will only address the films, but they still made those two glaring errors despite the fact that a film-only chronology is super freaking easy; things only get puzzling when you add in the shows.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

We now have rumors of a Rocket/Groot miniseries for Disney+, to go alongside the already-confirmed Loki miniseries and the still-rumored Scarlet Witch/Vision & Bucky/Falcon miniseries.
Spoiler.
These, of course, are all characters who are currently dead--except Rocket--so again, we're talking either prequels or Avengers 4 spoilers here.
Speaking of the thing I said in the spoiler, word on the street is that an Avengers 4 trailer (which should logically have a title in it) will drop soon.

Meanwhile, over in Deadpooland, the bleedthrough of realities continues as the only character who knows a corporate merger is happening prepares himself. (Safe for work; it's the trailer for Once Upon a Deadpool, the PG-13 recut of Deadpool 2.)

In the meantime, a recap of what release dates we know:
Runaways S2 - 21 Dec (exactly 1 month from today)
Captain Marvel - 8 Mar
Avengers: Insert Subtitle Here - 3 May
Spidey: Far From Home - 5 Jul
Cloak & Dagger S2 - Spring 2019
Agents of SHIELD S6 - July 2019
Punisher S2 - sometime probably in the first six months of 2019
Jessica Jones S3 - sometime probably in the middle six months of 2019
Agents of SHIELD S7 - Summer 2020

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
