I'm going to be opening up my own business soon hopefully
So I've got stuff lined up to be running my own BBQ pretty soon here in our small town. I just have to get some paperwork done, take a license test, and move the equipment into the appropriate building.
Been trying to come up with ideas for the menu and I wouldn't mind hearing you guys' opinions on this.
We're already going to be serving Ribs, Pulled Pork, BBQ Nachos, BBQ Chicken, and Tamales, along with Cole Slaw and baked beans as sides. I'm probably going to serve Pepsi products as drinks, but I'm not certain yet. I'm curious though, what do you guys think? Anything you think would be a good idea to add to the menu? What type of drinks should I serve? (Non Alcoholic, we're a dry county, sadly)
Just testing some ideas in my head right now, but yeah. Thoughts?

I think it's a great idea and that if you're nearby you should hire me. As a suggestion, include some type of dessert to the menu. I'm usually mildly irked when a restaurant of any type doesn't serve something for dessert. Guess who's never going back to the Chinese restaurant down the street ever again because they got rid of their soft serve machine (why).
I've always wanted to have a business, so congratulations on doing something great. Nothing better than being your own boss, I imagine.
Oh, as for drinks, definitely horchata. So refreshing, especially if you ate something spicy. BBQ nachos sound interesting btw.

Yo that's awesome.
I've always daydreamed of opening my own businesses. Ideas for toys/collectibles store, restaurants, bars. It always piqued my interest. I always thought my local town needed something added to the nightlife, like an arcade.
If you could get Snapple that would be grand. I personally really hate crap like Brisk Iced Tea. But if you're getting Pepsi then Brisk is owned by Pepsi so I assume getting another brand of Iced Tea would look awkward. . .I dunno. I never ran a restaurant so idk how deals like that work.
You gonna have chicken wings?

Hey, congrats on starting up your own business! I hope things go well, man.
Lemonade is a pretty popular drink.
I second the wings question.

That's pretty cool to hear BD, I hope the business goes well.
The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is hamburger but that might be a bit generic.

Dang, you can never have enough BBQ places. Is it wood-burning, I assume?
Either way, good luck. I've heard making money with a restaurant is really tough so I hope you can make it. We're pulling for you.

Congratulations, BD!!
Maybe a couple of no-cook desserts to begin with (you know, enticing ice cream sundae-type things perhaps?) https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipes/ ... eo-sundae/ I don't know much about the locale you are in, so I'd suggest that you do a quick survey of the people you know in the area if they'd like dessert options.
Best of luck and I hope that your restaurant is a fantastic success...

I started suggesting menu additions, but basically I was describing Rudy's.

^Ain't nothin' wrong with that!
Sounds cool, dude!
You're definitely gonna want a few more side options: cornbread (as UN pointed out), corn (be it on or off the cob), mac & cheese, some kind of green (green beans are a common pairing with BBQ, for example), some kind of "normal" bread (you don't have to be fancy or expensive there; lots of BBQ places just include sliced bread), maybe potato salad (your choice of mayo- or mustard-based), possibly rice (to pair with your tex-mex options). 'Cause some people can't eat beans, & coleslaw is....polarizing.
An entree for picky kids would be good, too: burgers, hot dogs, chicken nuggets/fingers, et cet (just one or two options is fine). Something so that a parent who likes your food doesn't also have to go somewhere else to feed their child.
Pepsi products sound fine, as long as you're covered beyond the basics of Pepsi/Diet Pepsi/Sierra Mist/Mt Dew/Dr Pepper. RU & Scotty were spot-on about including lemonade & tea. I've never had horchata, but IHRP seems to know what he's talking about there, & it would fit with the tamales & nachos.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Re: I'm going to be opening up my own business soon hopefully
lemonade and sweet tea seem like good drink choices that I generally associated with barbecue. Definitely agree with cornbread if you've got a good recipe. Nothing I love more with my barbecue than a good piece of cornbread or a cornbread muffin.
Something veggie-ish as a side too. Corn, green beans and collard greens are my personal favorites with BBQ.

Well, I mean, Wisconsin BBQ generally includes sauerkraut and german potato salad, but not everybody likes them.
You planning to fry? Frying adds a hell of a lot. Fried chicken, onion rings, calamari. Hush puppies, dude.

I drool over all things BBQ. BD keep doing the lords work. German potato salad gives life to those who are low on it. At least three hearts in any Zelda game. Think I might have to eat some $ and pick up the Green Egg. Even Zuckerburg is getting down with itBooyakasha wrote: ↑Sat Mar 31, 2018 8:23 pmWell, I mean, Wisconsin BBQ generally includes sauerkraut and german potato salad, but not everybody likes them.

Wow, I'm sorry I have to come back and edit this really quickly. What do you mean it's a dry county? You seriously can't drink while you're out to dinner? What is this prohibition??? Does that mean there are no bars or liquor stores also? S**t man, I'd be out of there in a heartbeat. Find me a county of debauchery, hell no.

^Democracy allows for people to impose whatever cilice they like upon themselves. I think it's blisteringly insane that dry counties exist, but that's the beast---------don't have to like it, just have to accept it.
Have you considered moving to Wisconsin, BD? The liquor laws here aren't quite so draconian. List of dry counties in Wisconsin consists entirely of the phrase 'ha ha ha get bent'.
