I started To aru Kagaku no Railgun a while back but quickly figured out I'm not its target audience... hahaha. I gotta say though, the opening and closing both are very good.
Probably wouldn't have lasted past the first three minutes either if I hadn't been introduced to it through one of the openings of an osu! map. That interested me enough to put up or skip that crap and then pretend it never happened, but there are definitely some significant parts I'd be cutting out if I were the editor. >_>

Second season thankfully had almost none of that.

It's a spin-off of another series (Index). Technically the part Ian likes (the first half of S2) is the one part that isn't anime-original, lol. (EDIT: okay, the first half of S1 isn't anime-original I guess)

Between the two series I'd say Railgun is probably more more palatable. Index is pretty harem tropeific which will be off-putting to...anyone who isn't a teenager, I guess. The Magic vs Science thing could be cool but in retrospect most of the arcs are either unimportant in the grand scheme of things or building up to something that isn't animated. Railgun meanwhile kind of gets bogged down by slice of life stuff.
Spoiler.
Index S1 was 9 years ago

Pretty sure the all the parts of anything I liked weren't anime-original. I started just assuming things weren't as soon as there was a noitceable drop in quality. Apparently that's the price you've got to pay if you want to see your cartoon explosions in motion.

I watched Neo Yokio. It's definitely in "so bad it's good" territory and I recommend everyone watches it as well.

I'm trying to be a better weeb and keep up with a few shows this season.

Anyone watched Black Clover and not gone deaf from the protagonist's constant screaming?

I binged Fate Zero and holy **** that was awesome. It gets depressing near the end though.

bumping this because WoT is becoming Anime General right now

my anime of the season for winter 2018 was Sora Yori mo Tooi Basho/A Place Further Than the Universe, without contest. since it's an original anime, it was sadly overshadowed by adaptations, but it's great and deserved so much more publicity than it got. i've only really seen people talk about it after it ended.

^That was a great show. Lots of tearjerking moments.

My personal favorite show of last season was Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens. I loved the jazzy aesthetic of it and the quasi-romance going on.

^even with tearjerking moments aside, the characters and animation were both great

i didn't watch Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens, but i might sometime

my number 2 for the season was Yuru Camp, with Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san and Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san as runners-up.

Anyone who didn't cry
Spoiler.
during episode 12
might not be human.

The whole "youth in motion" scene is excellent too. It's such a good show.

I haven't watched either show, but I've been told that HTR is similar to Durarara and Baccano. So, if that's your jam, you'd probably like it.

Yuru Camp was so cozy! I fell behind on Takagi-san; I need to watch it now that I can binge the whole thing.

I started reading Katawa Shoujo. Haven't got very far, but it's already got a very sad atmosphere.

I am legitimately worried this game is going to **** me up emotionally, but I choose to read it anyway. That is, if I don't get distracted by one of the numerous other games I still haven't finished. Among them are

Final Fantasy 1-6
Doki Doki Rain Clouds
Most of Super Mario Brothers X
Yume 2kki
.flow
Final Fantasy Tactics
Thousand Arms (which I haven't even booted up yet)
Mario World 2
Luigi's Mansion
Mario Sunshine
Sailor Moon Another Story
Kirby Super Star
Donkey Kong Country 1-3
All the GBA and DS Castlevanias
Fate Stay Night, Unlimited Blade Works, and Heavens Feel
and plenty more

this is a serious issue

This topic has reminded me that I was in the middle of Vision of Escaflowne like half a year ago at this point and I still haven't gotten back to it. Idk why because I was REAL HECKIN INTO IT too like damn TALK ABOUT MY AESTHETIC

Instead I binged the entire Zestiria anime, which was mediocre but I absolutely loved it anyway because of my existing love of the game it's based on. I tried bingeing the manga too but since it got officially licensed and translated it's impossible to find online now. Guess I'll suck it up and buy it bc I heard it's needlessly over dramatic even as an adaptation of a dramatic ass JRPG, and that it's even gayer than the game if anything. Plus the art looks pretty. Consider me sold.

I love anime and manga but not a lot of them. I'm extremely picky.

Death Note, Dragon Ball, Yu Yu Hakusho, G Gundam, and Ranma 1/2 are probably my favorite.

Manga, idk. Suicide Island was cool. Elfen Lied was crazy...Battle Royal was not as good as the film but I liked it anyway.

Very little anime or manga has interested me lately.

I'm currently reading through Hellsing, though I'm not sure whether or not I want to keep going.

My favorite anime:
Mirai Nikki (YUNO DID NOTHING WRONG)
Madoka Magica / Madoka Magica Rebellion (HOMURA DID NOTHING WRONG)
Cowboy Bebop
Sailor Moon maybe? I loved it when I was 5

Favorite weeaboo VNs and such:
Doki Doki Literature Club (MONIKA DID NOTHING WRONG)
All of the Japanese RPG horror games by Charon (Unsurprisingly these *all* also involve cute girls who did nothing wrong. I *really* want to stream these sometime, they're wild.)
Oh maybe also Yume Nikki if that counts.
