Re: Weeaboos Anonymous
I haven't been into anime and manga for a long time, and even when I was it wasn't much. Cowboy Bebop is a masterpiece, and I still listen to music from it all the time. Dragon Ball is an occasional guilty pleasure. I've also been thinking about giving Hellsing a read sometime.

Also good taste @ everyone mentioning Cowboy Bebop. That show was pretty much art tbh.

Re: Weeaboos Anonymous
I like anime. Anime's cool. Haven't watched anything too terribly recent (more into Western cartoons and comics these days), but it's never off the table.
I like '.hack' and 'RIN' quite a lot. 'Sailor Moon' is cool. 'Bebop' and 'Trigun' are rad----------'Record of Lodoss War', too. 'Akira's a good movie. 'Metropolis' is odd, but good.
As far as manga goes, I like 'Astro Boy' a lot (the manga is better than the show). I also got into 'Please Tell Me! Galko-Chan' and 'Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid' recently (they're both super great).
Usagi and Astro are favourites.

Re: Weeaboos Anonymous
I watch a lot of seasonal anime, but I haven't watched a lot of the "classic" or long-running ones except for DBZ and Naruto dubs when I was a little kid and subs of Death Note and Sailor Moon as an adult. Mirai Nikki/Future Diary is probably my favorite.
I've just recently got into manga, and I haven't really run into anything that stands out yet.
Edit: Oh, and I've been getting really into the Fate/ franchise recently.

Re: Weeaboos Anonymous
GINTAMA IS SO GOOD AND THAT REMINDS ME I NEED TO CATCH UP
Also Mirai Nikki was rad as hell and it had a BOMB ASS FIRST OPENING
I've also been informed that I need to binge Sailor Moon since I haven't seen it all and that's basically a weeaboo sin. So. Coming soon ?

Re: Weeaboos Anonymous
I haven't watched much of anything in a few years, but there were a few I really liked.Psycho Pass, Durarara, Death Note, Darker than Black, and To aru Kagaku no Railgun (despite that one occasionally getting *very* anime) stand out. I stopped mostly because I was never able to find a list or critic that reliably worked for me (not that I put a ton of effort into that) and because finding anime on your own feels a bit like digging through the Vita library without context. There are definitely some real masterpieces, but there's also truckloads of Compile Heart garbage with very loud and very dedicated fanbases. That, and I eventually realized that reading English subtitles while doing Japanese Anki review was massively counterproductive.
...Not going to pretend there isn't also a certain resentment towards the entire medium as a result of literally everyone assuming I've spent the last five years learning Japanese so I can translate Naruto, though. >_>

Re: Weeaboos Anonymous
I watched Sailor Moon up to season 2, because it got really boring really fast.
Netflix Castlevania is really good to, and the Sonic OVA is charming.

Re: Weeaboos Anonymous
I FORGOT ABOUT DEATH NOTE
I watched it last year because I somehow missed the ride when it originally came out but **** was so good.
((IAN, nice cover, but we all know you're learning Japanese specifically so you can do better Inuyasha fansubs than what you've found other people supply.))

Re: Weeaboos Anonymous
Yeah so far Code Geass has been really great. I was surprised since it has that old anime style that I really don't like, but I totally forget about it while watching.Apollo the Just wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2017 4:39 amCode Geass was a game changer for me a couple years ago. Tokyo Ghoul:re also just got its anime adaption announced. I hated the Tokyo Ghoul anime but I will still watch this because I love my boy Urie.

Re: Weeaboos Anonymous
I started To aru Kagaku no Railgun a while back but quickly figured out I'm not its target audience... hahaha. I gotta say though, the opening and closing both are very good.I am nobody wrote: ↑Sat Oct 07, 2017 9:14 pmI haven't watched much of anything in a few years, but there were a few I really liked.Psycho Pass, Durarara, Death Note, Darker than Black, and To aru Kagaku no Railgun (despite that one occasionally getting *very* anime) stand out. Squeege's brother actually gave us an anime superlist for Christmas last year. We've been working through it. Erased was fantastic. So was Madoka Magica. I expected the ending to be about seventeen times more depressing than it was, but I really liked said ending.
oh my GOD I don't think I have either.Apollo the Just wrote: ↑Sat Oct 07, 2017 4:55 pmI've also been informed that I need to binge Sailor Moon since I haven't seen it all and that's basically a weeaboo sin. So. Coming soon ?
Binge at same time ???!?!?!????/11
We loved it! impatiently awaiting the next season. Finished the first in one sitting.
Ha! Same, actually. Squeege pulled it up and was all, "Hey you like mafia right" and so naturally.Apollo the Just wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2017 12:47 amI FORGOT ABOUT DEATH NOTE

I couldn't get into it! Not so much the style, but the premise.Random User wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2017 6:55 pmYeah so far Code Geass has been really great. I was surprised since it has that old anime style that I really don't like, but I totally forget about it while watching.
