[QUOTE="Deku Trii, post: 1465255, member: 18320"]But you said a couple not having kids is going against their biological imperative. I imagine many who choose not to have kids do so for quality of life reasons.[/QUOTE]

I did say that, but wasn't that on the topic of homosexual marriage? In that case, they sometimes want children and adopt, meaning that the kids aren't interfering with their "quality of life."[DOUBLEPOST=1401070825,1401070779][/DOUBLEPOST]Now who's the little girl, Boo. :catfight:

You were talking about hetero couples who don't have kids.

Yeah, there are lots of straight couples who don't want kids, and it does go against nature. What's the point...?

Boo you are so pretty! <3

How does adopting a child not "interfere with [one's] way of life?" I mean, you still have to raise a foster child like you would a biological child...That changes your life quite a bit! The only thing that DOESN'T change is your physical makeup, and that's only if you bear the children yourself.

I'm saying it's inconsistent, in an obvious way, to say that not perusing a relationship doesn't go against a biological imperative because you think you'll be happier without one while saying it is going against a biological imperative for a couple to have no kids if they think it makes them happier.

Isn't he though?

Anyway, I meant that homosexuals adopting children by choice means that they don't believe they're dropping their quality of life by doing so. Otherwise, why would they do it?[DOUBLEPOST=1401075148,1401075093][/DOUBLEPOST][QUOTE="Loot, post: 1465286, member: 21459"]yeah who cares about adopting those little rats anyway

I'm sure you're not implying I'm against adoption. Because I'm not.

Also, good for you to consider adoption. It's a nice thing to do.[DOUBLEPOST=1401075514][/DOUBLEPOST][QUOTE="Deku Trii, post: 1465289, member: 18320"]I'm saying it's inconsistent, in an obvious way, to say that not perusing a relationship doesn't go against a biological imperative because you think you'll be happier without one while saying it is going against a biological imperative for a couple to have no kids if they think it makes them happier.[/QUOTE]

First of all, a relationship isn't necessarily a biological imperative. Reproduction is. Second, while I did say I think I'll be happier not pursuing a relationship, not only is that not going against biological imperatives, it's possibly temporary due to personal issues which I don't feel comfortable elaborating upon, as I mentioned.

Then adopting would be against the biological imperative, since that isn't reproduction.

No, it doesn't. It doesn't interfere at all. Some people adopt and have their own kids, too.

As per my biological imperative, I do plan to pass on my genes.

To impregnate a willing female at one point. It's...not a well-thought-out plan.

Man. I feel the biological imperative to reproduce, but it is entirely overridden by the moral imperative not to. Like, never even minding how utterly unprepared I am in general for childrearing and its costs...I don't want to pass on my genes.

Like...all right. I don't doubt this will sound dumb. And I'm not going to go into specifics, here. But my father...my father was not a good person. At all. Nor was his father. These were terrible, terrible men. Suffice it to say their morals were suspect, their treatment of their wives unconscionable. I could weep, here. And I'm not real great myself, to be honest. The thought of making another person out of this complete f*ckin genetic barf...it fills me with absolute horror.

But I feel like, all the years I spent up at camp, maybe I engendered some goodness, all on my own. Maybe I taught someone something, or helped someone, or (pfffffffft) inspired someone, and if I did...like, to this day, I'll occasionally get someone yelling my name out and waving across the street or in a shopping mall or something, some kid I don't but barely recognise, if at all, and that means a little something to me. Like...I rose above it. I did something good, maybe, in spite of my origins. And maybe that's enough. Does that make sense? Am I making any sense, here? I don't know. Ooh, like who cares, anyway.

I think I understand you, but in my opinion, nobody should be judged before they commit a crime, least of all the unborn. Not saying you're doing that, or that your reasons are bad or wrong, just that my reasoning wouldn't sync up with that logic. Nice to hear your thoughts on the matter.

Talking about sounding dumb though, how about this. To be honest, biological...like, everything, I don't like it. It just seems imperfect. It'd be pretty sweet if we were all robots or something along those lines. Fluid exchanges, genetics, love, it's all messy. There's something about cold, unbreakable logic-bots, man. I wanna be one.

I feel stoned for some reason, just lightly, almost unnoticeably stoned.

I'd so much rather just be a teacher than anyone's father. At that, though, I don't want to teach anyone, either. I don't want to be above anyone. I don't like issuing instructions. It literally upsets me--------I get a little indigestion, here, telling people what to do at work. Like who the hell am I. It's been getting a little easier as time has gone on, but, like, I get so nothing out of responsibility or power, aside from the slight pay increase...

...which entirely, entirely justifies it.

...im basically scrooge mcduck, here, swimming in like the thousand dollars in my savings account...

...i can tell you are strawberry jelly, friendo
