Yes, tons. Some don't wear it on a regular basis, but I'm friends with drag-queens, men who wear eyeliner, men who wear foundation, and just men who wear full-face makeup for no reason other than to look pretty. I worked at a salon for 6 years where men who wore makeup, got their eyebrows waxed, or got manicures came in regularly. I'm part of the ESL program at my school and there are many effeminate ESL students who wear makeup with no shame. I'm friends with more gothic men who wear makeup. I know perfectly straight men who wear a little makeup to feel a little better about their blemishes. So yes. Tons.

Can I just add that, while I avoid 99% of makeup, I am ALL about the nail polish. I bought three new colours today (the dollar store is the best place for nail polish, fact) and I am so gloriously happy with them: gold-khaki, a shimmery pale blue, and a darkish silver-grey that I haven't tried yet (since it doesn't quite go with the other two, which I am painted with at the moment). Rock on, pretty people.
Nonsense, I have not yet begun to defile myself.

So you spent money to change the appearance of your skin, and then spent more money to change it back?

This is EXACTLY why I enjoy makeup <3 But like ZEEGEE, I'm usually pretty lazy. If I wear anything it's usually eyeshadow of which I have literally tons.

^^ Um? No?

The purpose of foundation isn't to change your skin color and make you look like a pasty weird doll. It's to even your skin so it looks less blotchy and gross. So ZG applies foundation? To get that effect? And then adds bronzer? To achieve it? Without the awful pastiness because foundation doesn't come in the right color for her??

I'm not sure I understand how this is complicated but ok

[[@ZG- I actually bought two different shades of foundation to mix for similar reasons. Together they come out to the appropriate color for everyday, but one's paler and one's darker so I can use them for different effects in cosplay. WIN WIN.]]

I'm gonna use a way extreme example to explain:
Image
This is Zuko. He has a HUGE FREAKING SCAR over a third of his face.
Let's say Zuko wants to hide this scar with makeup. First, he'd need to apply something that would cover the scar without being see-through, but those substances aren't always available in all the different shades of skin (at least not without spending absolutely redonkulous amounts of money). So after covering the scar, he needs hit that area again with another makeup that matches his natural skin tone, so that people don't notice a big off-color area & realize that he's covering something.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Exactly how CL explained it. Foundation covers up blemishes or evens out skin tone, and you can use different kinds of make up to play up natural features. For instance, bronzer can be used to highlight cheek bones, and I can tell a tangible different in my face when I wear it because it takes a feature I naturally have and enhances it.[DOUBLEPOST=1395175474,1395175265][/DOUBLEPOST]

I LOVE painting my nails, if only because it's the only thing that keeps me from biting them.

I have very little advice (nor knowledge) about makeup. I own very little makeup but I do like to wear some eyeliner every so often and I prefer green eyeliner. I also don't do my nails very often as I sit and pick at the nail polish after about an hour. Okay bah... if I can wait 15 minutes before picking at it, it's a miracle... :p :D

Do you ladies ever consider doing warrior face-paint instead of makeup? You know, stripes of bright colour, or rough designs of woad? Just for something new and different, right.

I did this a couple summers back out of sheer boredom. And also because it matched the shirt I was wearing.

I do this too! I can't keep nail polish on. Especially if it has a smudge. I pick at it constantly. Sometimes I'll get fake nails to stop me from picking and biting. But I don't have that much money so I can't anymore.

well i was thinking more of a braveheart/comanche kind of thing----something a body would put on specifically to intimidate others

itd be a bold look, not all that different from a businessman wearing a power tie

man, imagine that---normal business guy, dressed in standard business guy attire, but his face is striped with woad and char, maybe with a necklace of bones and claws to flavour

he carries a spear notched and worn with hard use

the only tablet in his briefcase is of graven sandstone, covered in runes and dread pictograms dedicated to some forgotten god

(btw you're cute as a button, aren't you)

I typo bad enough with my natural nails... and the few times when I have had fake nails, I can barely type, barely use my phone and struggle with mundane things like brushing my hair without gouging an ear or the corner of my eye. I'll leave the fake nails to ESSDEE, who wears them very well. ;) :D

all day every day 100/10 yes

I haven't had my nails painted since last summer... again.... for cosplay what else is new lmao

I don't like the feeling of that layer, probably same way SD feels about foundation on her face. I can't even imagine fake nails. Although some of my friends are super into nail art and they hands look hot
