I hate life...

I'm pretty much the biggest dumba** ever...

Right now I work at a factory where I inspect steel balls for wheel bearings for many cars that you all love to drive! I have been at this company for roughly six months hoping to save up enough money to return to college. This is not the problem

The other day, I worked my first ever overnight shift. 9pm to 5 am. It sucked. A lot. I am not myself when I stay up all night and I was pretty angry about it.

You see, when I inspect the steel balls I put them in a machine and it checks them for defects and counts them, then it spits them out into black boxes (each of which carrying roughly 8000-50000 balls depending on the size of the ball) and I take those black boxes and put them onto pallets so they can be shipped to unit where they are assembled into bearings.

I was tired... and angry... and clumsy... I was unloading the black box from the cart using the hoist and my foot got caught between the pallets and... I slipped and...

well the cart was the only thing around.

SPLOOSH TEN THOUSAND BALLS EVERYWHERE.

I am so fired ;.;

Yeah, I've heard overnight shifts are a pain. Especially when you drop 10,000 balls and they go rolling away.

All I can say, is that, hey, it's over now.

How long does it take to clean up?

Sounds like a recipe for mistakes to have someone work overnight when they don't do it all the time.

I doubt you'll be fired...

Unless your boss is Donald Trump.

you were cleaning up someone else's mess(!)

But no, seriously. Sorry to hear that happened. Though, if you've otherwise been a good employee for 6 months, I can't imagine this will instantaneously get you fired.

Maybe you'll get off, but to be honest I doubt it. Sorry to hear about your situation. I can't even think about how freaked out I would have been if I had done that, so good on you for pulling yourself together and cleaning up.

Maybe if you tell them it was an accident, you won't get fired.

If that doesn't work, I wish you luck in finding another job.

Maybe you could bribe the witness into keeping quiet about it.

Wait...you were seen cleaning up the mess but you were the only one there? Back up a bit I'm confused. But nah you wouldn't get fired for a first mistake. Just make sure you rest during the day so you are better prepared. Have a Monster energy drink with you too. That'd help. Sorry to hear your balls dropped btw. Usually a person's balls don't drop until they're about 14.

There was another guy who walks around and is a forklift driver, but I was the only one in my department that truly works in my department

I don't know that an accident like that would be grounds for instant dismissal. Perhaps you can type up a letter to your supervisor/boss, explaining how you tripped then proceeded to clean up after yourself, apologise for the accident, and hand it to them before they have a chance to say anything. It's a good move to own up and be responsible, and most bosses will think well of you for it. Best of luck, dude.
Nonsense, I have not yet begun to defile myself.

Yes yes i inspect balls i get it ahahahaha

Obligatory balls of steel duke nukem reference.

And yeah maybe but with the rate of people applying amd considering how new i am, they probably wouldnt hesitate to let people go (the foreman fires someone after three days for accidentally putting the wrong oil into a machine, so....)

Unemployment payments are in place to prevent this very reason. If you get fired, they'll have to pay you unemployment and their percentage that they'll have to pay will go up. I doubt you'll get fired. Maybe a little lecture or reprimand but I'd just shrug it off since you obviously learned your lesson and you cleaned it up!
