I updated the operating system on my phone this weekend (I have Thursdays and Fridays off from work so I head back in tonight). Lost everything. Great. I'm also discovering I'm gonna need a new laptop within the next few months. This hasn't been a good weekend for me. I've been sick over the loss of my text messages - pictures I can deal with because I have it all on my laptop, I believe. But - almost a year's worth of texts (since I got my phone nearly a year ago) - just gone like that. :( I know - they're just texts. But still. I liked reading my old texts. That's been hard. But I'll move on. *sigh*

I just realllllllllllly want a long sleep right now. Didn't sleep soundly at all the entire weekend. I had just finished working 9 days in a row, too, so I was hoping for a day to catch up on my sleep.

Meh. I feel a little better now.

Always backup!
Why is it drug addicts and computer afficionados are both called users?

Yep! I always do. But I had a serious lapse before I updated my phone's OS, and it looks like I'm screwed. Man, that was a ****ing stupid thing to forget. *sigh*

Phone OS

Still can't believe people want a PDA rammed into their phone. It's just begging "steal my identify" IMO.

I *need* one - I'm deaf. Lol. It helps me out so much! I guess one screwup in 6 years of cell phone ownership isn't so bad. But man do I feel ****ty about it. :( I know - again, a small thing in the grand scheme of things. I feel thankful/fortunate that I think that's what sucks to me... I've been in situations where I was worse off than I am now, and I came out OK in the end. Kids, this is a "learn the hard way" lesson here. Remember that.

Oh yeah, I can totally agree with having the services texting, a portable map, etc can supply, especially to help everyone remain able, I'm just disappointed with the way the lack of security is currently handled, and that society is so backwards it took sneaking all of these functions into a personal phone to actually accept them being present in our everyday lives. I wouldn't save up messages myself, though, especially for privacy reasons. You be careful about that.

It's not an Android phone - my last two phones were Android, and I had SO MANY issues with them -- so many problems, in fact, it actually caused me to go out and buy my current phone outright (just the regular 'ole iPhone 4). I had to replace my last phone THREE TIMES in ONE WEEK... The first one, I'm not sure what the problem turned out to be. My guess is something that had to do with the touchscreen became faulty or stopped working... It wouldn't do anything when I tried touching the screen, and then it'd go berserk on its own (if you want to see the video clip I took of it, I can post it). It was so weird! The second phone I had, there was something wrong with the network. I had the Droid 2 (GLOBAL! Motorola made sure to stress that part, lol). It kept switching itself to a foreign network, and it would take me 1/2 hour or more to switch it back to CDMA, and that wasn't feasible for me. Very big hassle. The third phone worked fine - for a month. Then, it started having all sorts of problems with it. The last straw being when the charging port on it decided to stop working properly, and I'd have to wind the charger cord around my phone VERY tightly when I needed to charge it (which was ALWAYS, the battery on that phone drained soooo fast... Didn't matter how little I used it :( ). Needless to say -- I'm not exactly in a rush for an Android phone anytime soon, because that experience with my last phone soured things far too much for me. Maybe sometime down the road -- but not anytime soon, I know that much for sure. All these problems started when I'd had it for just 2 months (so I was 2 months into my new contract! Yikes!)... Replaced it completely at the 5 month mark.

I love, Love, LOVE my phone otherwise -- have had no problems with it. (Seriously!) So, it was my own bad for not remembering to sync/backup my phone via iTunes, etc. before I updated it over the weekend. I'm starting to feel better about it now... So finally having had a chance to vent about my own stupidity helped. Tunnel Snakes - totally understand where you are coming from and I can agree with that. The greatest loss I was feeling with that was the texts I had exchanged with a really good friend (whom I think of like a sister - my "almost twin" :) ) over the last year. These were the ones I actually would look back on and read the old texts on a semi-regular basis. The texts I exchanged with other people - no biggie. But still, ya know?

Thanks, guys... Very glad to have this board around.

I've never had a problem with the iPhone. (Except maybe having to charge it up every night.)

But I know what you mean about reading old texts. Just love to do that, some more than others. It's great to remember old conversations and jokes. :)
Peace and Love X
