Elaboration for those who are into that sort of thing:

Saturday night was alright for fighting (or at least playful punching), got a little action in. :)

After work Saturday, I went to a friend's birthday party, which consisted of dinner at a cool little bar/cafe on Euclid (CSM should know Euclid Ave if he's not just posing about being a cultured Wash U student ;) ), followed by salsa lessons & open dancing at a nearby club. In addition to a couple Truman people (her fiancee, me, & another guy), she'd also invited some friends from SLU and/or work (she's a counselor at a clinic), including this remarkably cute girl with a remarkably witty & slightly crazy demeanor.

I like witty. I love crazy.

I clicked pretty well with two of the work friends right away at the cafe, the girl & her ride (a large black man on loan from his wife, who was with their sweet-16 daughter for a girls-only-weekend). Later at the club, we were late for the salsa lessons (it took forever & a day for the waiter to bring our checks), so our whole group was in the back of the crowd, with Girl & I in the corner, separated from most of the others by a big pillar. As the lesson went on we both grew bored & goofy (me because the lesson was crazy-repetitive, her because she was enjoying the effects of a Long Island Iced Tea), & started joking around through the end of it all. Once the floor opened up, we didn't even bother dancing; we just went over to our group table to talk & goof off even more.

After a while, Birthday Friend dragged me out for a quick dance, during which I asked if I'd have any chance asking Girl out. Birthday Friend's eyes lit up like that was the best idea she'd heard all night & told me to go for it. I did mention, though, that I wanted to ask when she was sober so I'd be getting a sincere (& remembered) answer, which Birthday Friend also agreed with. A few minutes later, Girl, Driving Friend, & I were all getting ready to go, when Birthday Friend took Driving Friend aside, which we didn't plan but I definitely appreciated, & I asked Girl for her phone number that I might call her later. She agreed, took my phone, laughed at how old it is, & put in her number.

Then I left & got my parking validated. Four hours in a guarded lot for $0 = icing on the cake. :)

I'm calling her tonight. Thinking of setting up a double date with another friend of mine. Saturday lunch & bowling sound good to anyone else?

And remember, "I'm-a sorry, I-a couldn't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am-a."

^ dude you can't go wrong with bowling!! Especially if you order drinks keep her laughing and always and I mean always stay true to who you are. From the sounds of it you got an "in" so much so that you both share a mutual friend and that usually drops the barrier for girls when they know that you get along with people form their same circle.

As soon as I put my son to bed I'll be knocking back a beer in your honor.
