You know what I like? When you finish a video game and the credits roll and "YOU, THE PLAYER" is in there. I'm all, like, yay!
Why don't they do that any more? Why don't they also do it for other things, like movies and TV shows? I'll tell you why: writers hate their audience. If it wasn't for the audience, experiencing their works and interpreting their fevered writings, their works would be pure and pristine like a glacial spring. The moment our filthy eyes touch their book/movie/video game, it is forever ruined. Damaged goods. To "THEM", including "YOU" in the credits would be like sending a thank you note to the arsonist who burned their house down.
