Why would a guy cheat on their pretty girlfriend with an ugly girl?

Why would a girl do the same with her boyfriend?

Why would this also happen in gay relationships?

Now for my rant:

Two of my friends started "dating" if you consider a relationship that starts online after talking for a day, a relationship.

One of these friends is an extremely cute guy I know. He's nice, seems to be a bit scatter-brained, but nice. He lives fairly close to me. We'll call him, "L."

The other "friend" is the sort of fair-weather fellow you would expect to stab you in the back for a few giggles. Admittedly, he's really cute, but he's a giant ass. He puts on an air of being a nice guy and is extremely manipulative. He lives pretty far away from both L and myself. We'll call him, "A."

Well, almost right out of the gate, A is cheating on L. L's definition of cheating, which I agree with personally, is, "Flirting with other people or getting naked for them," which is precisely what A is doing. I tell L this and he's just like, "ok."

Fast forward to the next day: I'm suddenly a friend short on facebook and I get a text basically saying, "Sorry about the block, A wouldn't leave me alone about it, but I still want to be friends."

After "dating" for about a month, A decides to "not string him along anymore," and breaks up with L. I don't know if he confessed to cheating or not, but whatever. L didn't want him to break up with him which confuses the **** out of me.

After this, A tells me he broke up with L and that, "You can try to get with him now, not that he'd ever date you anyway."

What really infuriates me about this is that the guy A cheated on L with is hideous. I'm not even talking about that subjective attractiveness, I mean this guy is ugly. Buck toothed, slack-jawed, greasy redneck. Did I mention the guy's a pedophile, like, no joke?

I just... I don't get it. What really kills me is that L is still friends with A.

Looks aren't everything, and sometimes they aren't much anything. Some people fall in love with inanimate objects. It has to do with personality. This is a lesson in manipulation you shouldn't take lightly. Gays can typically be highly mistreated individuals, and a lot of them come with tons of baggage as a result.

Your "A" took a dominant role in the relationship, and exploited it. He probably didn't necessarily see a black and white "wrong" for what he was doing, as many of us simply try in a relationship what we've been lead to believe is fair behavior in a relationship. You might sympathize with "L" - but it takes two to tango, and it sounds like A pushed all of the right buttons to earn his sympathy. Irrational jealousy included.

As there is no universal definition of "correct" behavior, a lot of us have to be wary to learn from our mistakes. If these two don't, don't be surprised. Most people try to keep that door shut, because they're afraid of feeling guilt.

And next time, just give them fake names. Single letters can make this sort of thing difficult to follow.

I've heard about people being blinded by love before. It does strange things to people.

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life,
Never make a pretty woman your wife,
So from my personal point of view,
Get an ugly girl to marry you.

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life,
Never make a pretty woman your wife,
So from my personal point of view,
Get an ugly girl to marry you.

A pretty woman makes her husband look small
And very often causes his downfall.
As soon as he marries her
Then she starts to do
The things that will break his heart.
But if you make an ugly woman your wife,
You'll be happy for the rest of your life,
An ugly woman cooks her meals on time,
She'll always give you peace of mind.

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life,
Never make a pretty woman your wife,
So from my personal point of view,
Get an ugly girl to marry you.

Don't let your friends say
You have no taste,
Go ahead and marry anyway,
Though her face is ugly,
Her eyes don't match,
Take it from me she's a better catch.

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life,
Never make a pretty woman your wife,
So from my personal point of view,
Get an ugly girl to marry you.

Say man.
Hey baby.
Saw your wife the other day.
Yeah?
Yeah, she's ugly.
Yeah, she's ugly but she sure can cook.
Yeah?. Okay.

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life,
Never make a pretty woman your wife,
So from my personal point of view,
Get an ugly girl to marry you.

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life,
Never make a pretty woman your wife,
So from my personal point of view,
Get an ugly girl to marry you.

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life,
Never make a pretty woman your wife,
So from my personal point of view,
Get an ugly girl to marry you.

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life,
Never make a pretty woman your wife,
So from my personal point of view,
Get an ugly girl to marry you.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Just because you think she's ugly doesn't mean he does. I've seen girls who're considered, "ugly" merely because their breasts aren't bigger than their brains and/or full of Silicone.

And like what Falcon said...ugly girl could always have a better personality or one that attracts the guy more.

The mental state of "falling in love" produces dopamine levels that are actually not too far off from schizophrenic proportions. I wish I had a hard source to cite for that, but I can say that I heard it from a psychologist.

You should explain to "L" that if "A" would rather be with a buck toothed, slack-jawed, greasy redneck pedophile than him, then he should just cut off any relation with him and find someone better.

"Redneck" shouldn't have been used to describe his cons. How much money you have and where you live shouldn't represent who you are, and what people think of you.

To all of the people saying I shouldn't have said "redneck":

I live in Alabama. A very rural part of Alabama. I have seen true rednecks and this guy was one of them.

No offense Jere, but you're not at all. She's using it in reference to his manner, not just a rural background. Being European, it's one of the facets of culture that you're not going to 100% understand in that it doesn't translate to other languages or cultures. It only applies to a specific type of American.

And Spark, being a redneck isn't a financial thing. It's the same as other terms like hick, yokel, hill billy, etc. In short terms, it means a person who is will-fully ignorant and doesn't have any decent manners, but it's also much more specific than that.

Money is related, dude.
It's not always the main cause, but it usually tends to help it along, alot.

(What I find really funny is that when I was younger, back in my home town, everyone at school considerred the term almost something of a complement. It was probably just a result of Jeff Foxworthy making it seem cool, though.)

But yeah, some are just willfully ignorant fools, but others really just don't have much money and are kinda forced into the lifestyle.

I wasn't actually using redneck to be insulting, I was merely quoting Sonic 5's description, due to the fact that she didn't give this mystery man a name.

Let's call him "Q".

It's just that i see some aspects of that kind of culture from where i grew up and i always try to stop people from making fun of people from the countryside.

Being part of the monetary group where this type of behavior originates can help it along, sure, but that doesn't make every poor farmer a douchetruck who hates anything that isn't associate with white, backwater US culture and toilet humor. There are rich rednecks, make no mistake.

If you're not a close-minded jackass, you're not a redneck.
