I'm not sure, it's a cousin of a friend. She's a professional photographer, but my guess is she made some of the effects in photoshop. She got the angles she wanted so that she could enhance the background later

Yeah, desaturation is always likely PSed these days, though it is possible to get that look with the correct ISO and lighting. Or, if you're shooting with film, using the right stock.

a little more focus and a little shorter shuttertime would probably work wonders whit that camera.

And please sit straight when you take pictures, when you are tilted forward it makes your head look big.
