Home Depot and Lowes

#1

Post by Sim Kid » Thu Jul 22, 2010 3:10 am

Detractor nicknames = Slowes and Home Cheepo. Okay, got those out of the way.

Why do these stores just plain SUCK? Well lessee....

1) Nobody is working there.
At least, nobody you need. Most people at those places seem to be working at the register. Honestly I wouldn't want to bother them since they're often pretty busy checking people out.

2) As a result, it takes FOREVER to get help in there.
Really, I'm not going to ask a landscaper for help with my lighting. So okay, the pager has been buzzing for about half an hour...uhm....is there nobody that can come here in lights or am I just wasting my time and should try looking for a different place?

3) They care more about keeping the contractors happy than the customers.
Okay, so because literally every single contractor we had has been almost as bad as Comcast, or have purposely done stuff like sit around the house doing almost nothing so they'd get an extra hours' wages. Come on, you're being paid so we don't have to try replacing the floor - It's because if I tried to replace the floor myself, I'd hurt myself, or screw up and have to buy MORE new pieces of wood to put on the floor.

We also put in complaints about how these stupid painters have not only
a) Raided the fridge and didn't pay for the drinks they stole
b) Dripped paint on the couch and didn't try to clean it up (Now where was the drip cover? Hmmm....oh yeah....everywhere BUT on the couch. :| )
c) Have mysteriously vanished since Friday saying they'd be here on Monday and have required dad to work from home to let them in.

And we've not had any response from it. :| Yeah, obviously they'd rather get the contractors to stay happy, rather than most of the customers.

Believe it or not...these are actually a lot better than the other contractors we've hired to do stuff on the house (So we wouldn't hurt ourselves). The friggin roofers had no association with Home Depot or Lowes whatsoever, and yet those dumbasses still kept us waiting for three weeks before deciding to show up. Oh believe me, we sent in several complaints to the BBB bout these people and they definitely got a biiiiig smudge on their report. (Course, the same should ahve been said for comcast for not giving us any reimbursement after waiting a month to fix the phone...)

4) That crazy in Returns at Lowes.
Oh yes, I totally bought this lamp at Home Depot, sabotaged it, stuck a Lowes Price Tag on it, then forged a receipt saying I bought it here and am trying to return it for an identical product that you stock here. Wow. You're not getting ME back for awhile.

5) My parents' behaviour in Home Depot.
I don't know what it is about these places, but it seems that the second they enter this place, they develop the attention span of a cream puff. Sometimes I'm having to lead them around like this...
"Okay, I just need a pair of bypass shears...no, dad, not that way...the gardening section is this way and...Where'd Mom go? AGH! DAMMIT! Wait right here. Mom? Please quit looking at the paints. We're going this way. Now come on...GAGH WHERE'S DAD!!! DAMMIT!!! dad. Bypass shears. This way. Now. Thank you, now let's just get a pair and...no don't look at the friggin LAWNMOWERS!!!! This way. okay, I got the shears, now....oh frig. Dammit where did you go?! D:< *finds them in sinks* I got what I needed. No, we don't have time to wait for someone to help us over here, head back another tome. Back this way, now. Oh ****, where'd dad go? DAMMIT DAD!!! STOP LOOKING AT THE 2x4s!!!! ARGH!"

Basically....for the latter, I should have gone to Ace Hardware. Even though they kind of didn't have Bypass shears. >.<

File under "human nature"

All those things you're raised to expect people to do, because it's expected of you? Stop it, those are just nice ideas. You can stick to them, I suggest you do, it will help you earn success. But there's no point in getting pissed at everything. Do you want to be angry your whole life, or do you want to enjoy it in spite of all of the things you could use to justify your anger? I used to do it, too, so trust me on this one.

I really sympathize. It's not helping you, though. Use your observations to better your sense of humor. You can control what makes you happy, it comes from practicing tolerance. Wouldn't it be ideal if this stuff weren't rant-worthy? What if you actually even learned to like it? I'm not there yet, probably won't ever be, but that would be amazing. I keep thinking one day it will completely click and I won't mind a thing. It's something to look forward to, at least.

^ Sorry. Because of people like House and Daria, being incredibly cynical and an utter ******* is considered "intelligent" and "Realistic" nowadays. Oh look, another sarcastic comment.

Haha, yeah it's something like that. I don't mean to condescend, but trust me when I say there's plenty of worse things to be bothered about.

Sorry to hear about the furniture, but next time get your family to do the logical thing and move it out of the room while they're painting.

Target and Chipotle. (and Cold Stone and PF Chang's because they proudly claim to support the new Arizona law...but it's not like that means much because I don't like the former and the latter is too fattening for me to ever go to. If I want good Chinese I can just go to Flushing anyway). -CSM

The local Han's Cafe chain here is awesome. I love me some curry rice-noodle soup.
