i know about it because of that rad gbs threadBats with Hats wrote:Pop News Quiz, who here knows about the Freedom Flotilla incident in Israel?
If you don't, its ok because CNN literally did not report it all, msnbc only touched on it and ironically fox gave it the most coverage (except nobody wants to watch fox), even though it was a international nightmare in which Israel killed several people including at least one American citizen!!!!

I know about it because I go to a liberal blog site (dailykos.com), which, for all its ups and downs, does cover lots of things the mainstream news doesn't bother touching.

I listen to the radio alot instead of television for news. (Not just because I don't have television either.) Pretty much all news i hear on the radio is either unbiased, or alot less so than televised. Surprisingly enough the least biased I've heard is Fox News. Albeit, it comes on in between biased political talk shows, but those aren't for news, those are talk shows. Plus it could be less biased because its on for only a few minutes at a time, but still. BBC Radio is OK most of the time, but you can still pick out spots of noticeable bias. Plus it comes on very late at night/ early in the morning on Public radio stations. At least in Central time anyway. Since I don't pick up the talk radio station that well in my place, I'm usually forced to listen to that or the AFA report if I can find it.
Even when I had tv though, I stayed away from most news stations like Fox news and CNN. As well as most other major news networks. Maybe that was because I also had internet at the time, but I dunno. :/

The news is always something like showing how bad the rest of the world is and finding some way to blame America or Europe for it. And if not, it's always the Prime Minister or president's fault. (Really, they should just rename those titles to "Scapegoat".) On top of brilliantly manipulated stuff like "Look at how dumb this group of people are" when anyone who ever even took a journalism class can tell you that they cherry-pick to get the stuff they want to hear out of them.
I still think the news just makes me depressed....in between the rare "Cure for this type of cancer found", many things are just negative stuff...or "Studies show that kids don't wear bike helmets" or "People catch the cold, blames illness on the government" or "This business shown violating laws, blames government for putting those laws into existence."

^Word. I don't bother with watching television, I just like to keep open news windows like NPR or BBC - that's where I read up on everything. Then I watch the Daily Show for insightful analysis and incessant mocking of the news organizations who are supposed to be covering the information, but are failing miserably at it.

I love The Daily Show and Stephen Colbert's show, but they still don't cover tons of **** (understandable, since they exist to make fun of what the actual news channels are covering, and the actual news channels barely ever cover anything worthwhile.)
