Er, isn't the only snowfeild that you fight on at Death Mountain?

HAVE YOU GONE INSANE?

Also, this scene is possible in Chrono Trigger DS. The creature would be a Snowbeast - Heckran recolor - and they're using Frost Arc (formerly known as Arc Impulse.) This can occur in a new dungeon available in Antiquity after beating the game once.

Marle has six fingers because the artist is a badger and doesn't know what humans look like.

And, the ice looks like fire because the artist is a badger and can't tell the difference.

Marle wears a purple robe because the artist is a colorblind badger.

...Well, it comes down to the box art most likely being developed before the game was finished. They probably played role reversal with Lucca and Marle's powers, switched bosses/locales, and decided against having the characters change clothes depending on environmental differences.

Besides, it looks damn badass.

Six fingers? Hrm.

She has six fingers, because everyone know that all royal families are inbreds.

And some have frog DNA in the mix somewhere in there, so that may play a role in the evolution of six-fingered humans.

I didn't think of that, but it looks more likely than the Badger hypothesis. Maybe this had something to do with the unused Singing Mountain?

^ Sounds probable, and it fits well.

Some things are unforgivable though. Like in the anime cutscenes in CT, Frog is seen battling in 600 A.D with Robo and Crono against Ozzie and his henchmen on the bridge (Zenan Bridge?). He wasn't even in your party at that point but there he is battling away.

^That was in the intro, right?

The cover is just probably just some promotional art they had made before. Someone just forgot about Marle's element. Still makes me laugh, though.

Yeah, it is the intro scene. I forgot its name. Again, it was a very hardcore scene and I nerd out on it to this day.

Guys, it's just a picture of the three of them using Arc impulse. Durring that particular attack the flame-like magic that Marle produces flashes orange and blue. There are a few things wrong with the cover art, but that isn't one them.

I need an image macro posted and a Coke delivered to me by a squire every time I successfully derail a topic with a silly post.

What did you derail it to? Chrono Trigger again? I thought this was a "nitpick the best game in the world" thread.

Really, IRHP? You're nitpicking the intro scene? It's just a montage, nothing to get your panties in a jumble over.

Also, Arc Impulse owns.

Sorry but I never seen her shoot flame for even a second.

^ Well, it may be a minor gripe, but canonically sound montages won't hurt anybody. And it doesn't really destroy any aspect of the game for me, but it should certainly be pointed out.

It would will have was been memorable.

They have a time machine. I'm pretty sure they can do whatever they want, including making out with their past/future selves.

You're terrible at derailing. You've only furthered my plans to needlessly critique small things in Chrono Trigger. :flying:

Bring on the Marle/Marle action.

You are going to have to clarify that one. That box art IS an accurate representation of the 2300 AD level; snowy, barren wasteland.

^ Here's what the entire planet looks like, 10000 BC:
Image

Not too hard to come up with some snow in Chrono Trigger, but 2300 AD is covered in Ash:
Image

I could understand how you'd mistake it for snow, at least.

Apparently most of you have never heard of artistic license.

Not to mention while you're nitpicking fine details, that Marle would die from exposure if she were walking around an ice-age blizzard in a tube top, the over-coat makes sense but it would have been unreasonable to include doubles of every sprite just to give her a coat for 20 minutes. This is the SNES we're talking about, they made a big freaking deal out of using 4 megabytes of memory in Donkey Kong Country.

During the Arc Impulse triple tech, Chrono gets a foot lift from Frog and leaps upwards to strike the enemy from above as Marle casts a spell that causes a vertical bar to flash across the screen. That bar flashes the color yellow. If you would like to explain how attractive that yellow rectangle would look in the cover art, be my guest. Watch your video again, this takes place at exactly 22 seconds into it.

And the cutscenes are a sad thing to criticize, they weren't even part of the original release.

The flames are hidden behind the status bar at the top of the screen in that video. Of course if you had any clue what the hell you were talking about, you'd know that.

Try this one. Turn off the sound first. Then jump to 5:20. It's the only video I can find that has the whole move.
