TIDUS.

As long as the current path of FF gets truckloads of cash, they'll never deviate.

Look at it from my point of view--the only anything I've seen from FFX was the Laughing Scene. Maybe if I'd seen it in context or played any of the game at all, I'd feel different--as it stands, I savour the thought of someone walking up behind Tidus in the middle of his third big fake stupid laugh and punching him right in the kidneys. It's nothing I can help.

^Well, even myself with all my love for FFX wants to do that. That scene is just...*shivers*

There are many redeeming factors to the game, however...like Auron. And Lulu. Oh yeah...

Its the kind of scene where you turn down the volume and hope no one catches you watching it.

Yeah. But I could have looked back on it thinking it was worth it if the ending was any good. Turns out I got the crappy ending cause I didn't get 100%. That game was a little bitch for doing that to me.

X-2 was a shame because they completely made Yuna and Rikku act out of character and changed them into...I dunno, slutty airheads, I guess. Which is a shame, because the supporting cast (Baralai, Gippal, Nooj, Paine) actually had interesting backstories, and definitely the potential to make a good, cohesive game. But they focused on Yuna and the contrived premise of her connection with Lenne/Shuyin.

I would have totally rather they made a new game with Paine and co. - that would have been awesome.

Uh, except, FFX-3 needs to focus on Auron and Jecht and not be anything like FFX-2. Ah, and Dissidia needs to become a sub-franchise with regular sequels.
If Tidus gets sucked into a jet engine in the end, I'd play Final FAntasy X-3!

Tidus getting sucked into a jet engine? Sounds like a minigame.

FF8 and FF9 do not need sequels at all. Nope, no way. Uh-uh.

FF9 was a great game, it is my second favorite FF and I don't know why everyone bashes it. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

FF8 was ****ing boring. Jesus christ, that was just the most boring game. SO MUCH TALKING, and you HAVE to read it. The magic system sucked. Randomly switching you to three other guys that sucked and did nothing but walk around sucked.

Maybe they could remake it without it being so boring, idk.

^ FF9 has a lot of room for expansion. Thing is, Square proved with FF7 that it can't tell the difference between expanding and bastardising something. =/

FF8 had good characters (Squall and Seifer were probably one of the best FF rivalries) and great graphics. The gameplay is love/hate. I loved it. Graphics were great, story was enjoyable (talking = story) and even the music was good.

Oh, and FF9 gets bitched at for a number of reasons but I loved it. Well, except the blue mage thing.

It's too "Traditional", whereas Square went out of their way to make the characters as different as possible from "Traditions".

Although I have to wonder how they COULD be continued. I mean doesn't Square-Enix like to usually end most of their games with little to no room for a sequel? How can you make a sequel to Final Fantasy IV?

"Oh noes! ZEROMUS RETURNS!"

What about Final fantasy 3?

"Oh noes the balance is off again! Time to throw out another Necron!"

or Final Fantasy 9?

"Hi, I am Necron, and I am back. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to-"
Yoda: Shut up Necron that's my line!

Games that have deeper stories or are generally longer often are the targets of sequels.

See, 8 and 9 both qualify easily for a sequel.

Then you see games like FF1 that would be hard to make a sequel for.

Am I the only person here who thought FF8 was a legitimate and enjoyable Final Fantasy game?

Anywho, I say cut it out with the damn sequels. If the original game was good, then I say leave it be. Next thing Square will be releasing a Final Fantasy VII: Special Edition, where he replaces digitally replaces Vincent Valentine with Hayden Christensen.
