I sincerely enjoyed it - the battle system, the sidequests, the storyline, the characters. The only thing I didn't like about it was the bland elevator music that played in the background whilst you were traipsing merrily along your way. But other than that, I really liked it.

If you want REAL elevator music, play 007 for the N64.

But the music was probably the only sucky part. The rest of the game was awesome. Balthier alone can save any game. -CSM

Some of the musical themes that played were beautiful (and I happened to LOVE 'Kiss Me Goodbye' - possibly my favorite theme song), but it was the constant repetitiveness of the music that just made it all very bland.

I got it for free, is that a good enough reason?

I don't know...I just don't like Sakimoto's style. Although I like how he did the Prologue. -CSM

Because I've played all the others. The idea of the game isn't bad. But 90% of the game is sidequests and there's no real plot.

Why is it that so many of you RPG fans dislike some of the newer Final Fantasies?

The obvious answer is because they are bad.

Starting from FF7 everyone was emo, the art was bad, and you always had to kill some god, and everything else got worse too, FF9 not included.

Also the gameplay is always the same and its gotten stale, older games get a pass on that because it wasn't stale then.

*Looks at 10 and 12*

Define "stale"

same thing, but with gimmicks.

also iirc most of FF10s system was stuff you did out of battle in a menu which is great, but ultimatly its just a diffrent character buliding system and not anything new in the game play itself. E: Expesally since it amounts to the same thing.

My list of reasons for not liking FF12 is quite long and has been stated many times in this forum. Suffice to say, I did not enjoy the game. In the end, the value of a game is all in how much fun it is to play.-jay

I wouldn't call it "stale," particularly in 12's case. For 10's case, I'll say the characters are stereotypes. -CSM
