I pretty much agree with their ranking with the only major exception being NES' placement, I'd put it below Wii U since very few of its games aged well despite its massive historical significance. If I was a little more picky I'd swap DS & 3DS, and bump GameCube up above SNES.

Re: Ranking Every Nintendo Console From Worst to Best
If you throw Switch in there near the top, take out the higher ranked Wii U (it's there twice), and maybe bump NES down to like between Wii and GBC, I would say the list is at least ordered such that I could divide it into a tier list without further rearranging it. Hard rankings are tougher and depend on what I'm in the mood to weigh more heavily on any given day.

^The article appears to have been edited to put the Switch at #2 & remove the high-ranked WiiU duplicate.

Or the GB Micro, I really liked the thing. You'd think it would give you hand cramps being as small as it is, or that it'd be difficult to read text on it, but it was fine. The only real downside was lack of backwards compatibility, that was not a good choice.Booyakasha wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 3:23 amI can see putting the GBA SP at #4. Original GBA? Nossir.

I mostly agree with your take, especially about the NES. While it was revolutionary, a lot of its games are tough to go back to now. I'd personally move the DS a little higher too, so many great titles, and it was a huge leap forward for handheld gaming.I REALLY HATE POKEMON! wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 10:30 pmhttps://culturedvultures.com/ranking-nintendo-consoles/

Pokémon Mini
Wii U
Game Boy
Game Boy Color
Wii
N64
3DS
DS
GBA
NES
GameCube
SNES
Switch (yeah, I’d actually give the top spot to the Switch, such a perfect blend of home console and handheld, plus the game library is insane).

Yep, NES has too many games that demand you drill the levels and enemy placement into your head through sheer repetition. Due to technical limitations they kinda had to artificially lengthen games, and kids have a lot more patience for that, plus it's not like they had much choice since most of them didn't have access to tons of games.derony88 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 11:22 amI mostly agree with your take, especially about the NES. I felt like swapping VB & PKMN Mini like you did, the latter has more good games, Togepi's Great Adventure is surprisingly quite fun. DS was amazing, I agree. It might even have a better library than GBA, I always go back and forth on that.
Nice list, btw. I didn't rank Switch because it's still an ongoing platform, but if I were to place it based on its current library, if I could put aside nostalgia, I'd rank it at least in the top 10, maybe even top 5.
