Backstory:
My sister didn't have a credit card until a few years ago, and she was technically sharing it with her boyfriend saying that it was to be used for emergencies. Her boyfriend accidentally kept using the emergency card, didn't tell sis about it, and wound up really knocking down their credit rating.
Sis needs money to fix her car because she's a teacher and makes maybe about as much as a server would be without tips. For soem reason she doesn't ask her boyfriend who makes enough he doesn't even need to take out loans... maybe because she doesn't want to ask him for money for her car, I don't know.
So on Sunday, I overhear my dad talking with my sister about a loan of some kind... his plan? Because I have a better credit rating than her, he'll take out a loan in my name. And he was shocked to find me there, because he didn't plan on telling me about it.
WHAT?!
Yes, I chewed him out for that - Taking a loan out in somebody else's name without their signature is illegal. If you want to take out a loan for my sister, you cosign it yourself - you don't take out a loan in someone else's name without them knowing?!?
To my sister's credit, she was just as shocked. Not because I was right there, but because she knows that's asking for prison time - the lawyers call that "Fraud", "Identity Theft", and probably "Perjury".
How on earth has my dad lived so long?
