REPOST: Why I was up past 5am

[The original version of this thread was only up for about an hour when Shane had to do another reset this morning, so I doubt I missed many replies.]
At about a quarter past 2am, when I was getting ready to head up to bed, the phone started ringing. It was my cousin who lives with our Grandma calling to tell us that he had an ambulance on the way because she was having trouble breathing.
My parents & I rushed over & got there in time to help convince her to let the medics take her to the hospital & sort out her information for them. It also turned out she'd been vomiting (despite what should've been an empty stomach by that time of night) & that her heart rate was out of control.
Mom rode in the ambulance; Dad & I followed my uncle behind it. My mom & uncle went into the ER with Grandma while Dad & I waited in the lobby. After a while, Mom came out & told us Grandma was finally stabilized with an IV & her pulse back to normal, & that she'd be staying the night. She also told us that this had been brought on because Grandma hadn't taken her heart medication...because she hadn't ordered her refill...because she's an old, stubborn, Sicilian woman who mistakenly thinks driving a couple miles to pick up her order is an inconvenience for us...& because my uncle, who was supposed to check up on her yesterday to make sure she placed the order, got busy at work & didn't tell anybody that he couldn't do it. :smashhead:
It was nearly 5. Dad & I came home. I slept past noon today for the first time in ages.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
