I cannot describe how angry I get when I play this ****. In SSF2THDR, I suck as anyone but her so I use her, but she sucks. Worst of all is how the community irrationally claims she's great. I've already raged at shoryuken.com but it's like screaming at a ****ing wall over there. They tout her pros and deny her cons.

Basically, I hate how she's a jack-of-all-trades. Sure, on paper she has everything but no specialization. Fireballs? Sure, but they dissipate and require a charge. Shoryuken-esque Reversal (Upkicks)? Yeah, but they lose to practically everything, they have garage priority, speed, distance, you name it. Why not at least give her a viable Reversal for God's sake? I could forgive everything else, like how her Spinning Bird Kick is the saddest Special in the game now, making it harder to build Super. Speaking of Super, she can't even begin to fight back against some people until she has it. What kind of gameplay is that?

She has some good normals, I'll give her that but they're all situational and need perfect timing and they BETTER be good because what else does she have?

I've looked over all available data, watched high profile matches and played a lot so I think my opinion holds weight. Again, on paper she's solid but the level of difficulty it takes to use her as opposed to TIGER TIGER TIGER just doesn't seem fair to me. There's just no room for error with her, and she seems to be all eta game, relying on accidents to swoop in and punish. Ryu can accidentally throw one too many Fake Hadokens and God knows Ken can whiff a Shoryuken without it costing the match. Jeez...

I think I might break another controller.

From what I understand, Chun-Li has always been a character with a very high skill cap. Like you said, a lot of her moves take near-perfect timing, but if you can pull them off they can be some of the best in the game.

If you don't like playing as her, why not pick up someone else?

^ Yeah, that's pretty accurate. In the right situations she can be downright lethal. But giving her a real reversal would be fantastic so that she can be worth a damn in the corner defensively. Her anti-air is just sad.

I just can't get the feel for anyone else. I can use DJ a bit but only because he's similar to Chun Li. You ever play a game and only really excel at all with one character? I'm usually not like that except in fighting games.

^ Not always. Gen in SF4 has a ton of options at his disposal but why play with them when you can just dominate with Cammy?

^ Yeah, there's always an exception. People thought Akuma wasn't cheap until Infiltrator got a hold of him.

And it goes both ways; Zangief is bottom-tier but SnakeEyes took him to the top in EVO HDR. Nothing is in stone, I guess.

Playing online is a pain with Chun Li. You be someone big like Zangief, and you're practically done for unless you manage to knock her down. Either way, she just rolls up and begins kicking your face in once more.

^In HDR if Zang gets a knockdown he practically wins. He just ticks you into SPD until next round/game over. Chun has the edge technically, she has the tools to keep him out but if he's in he has a bigger edge. And they always find a way in (on me anyway). -_-;

In fact, if you don't counter Zang's first jump-in splash in the corner, it's a loop. No reversal. It's dumb.
