He gave me the go ahead to do what I want with a cover of one of his songs, and told me his band's gotten back together and trying to record new material.

I've never experienced this variety of elation before. I'm so psyched I can't sleep.

Jeff Scheel from the Techno/Rock group Gravity Kills. They were and are really cool guys with a lot of neat ideas who unfortunately signed to TVT and following that Sanctuary Records, both of which apparently were run by folks who have no idea how to run a record label successfully. With pretty much as little promotion as you could imagine, their single Guilty drove their first album to platinum. The label sank too much money on over-producing their second album, so investors weren't willing to fund promotion of it as was necessary. Love their music overall, regardless.

They have the poor luck of being lumped in as NIN imitators despite not intentionally heading in that direction. Their later stuff was very rock-oriented as far as the LP shows, but the demos they wrote were actually very electronic oriented.
