My Parents...

So recently I was just trying to get something to eat for dinner. Of course, while I'm making my plate my mom decides to enter my room and snoop around on my Skype. Nice. Anyways, I come back into my room to eat, since our family is usually separated from each other, and she starts getting mad at me. Why? Because GOD NO I WAS TALKING TO A HOMOSEXUAL ON SKYPE!

She then proceeds to explain how homosexuality is a sin and all that stuff, then takes my laptop, which is mine. She did not pay for it, it was gifted to me. But apparently she owns it because she owns the internet. Being the minor, protesting her foolishness earned me another scolding and we both started getting more and more angry on the matter. Eventually I just bolted from the house to take a walk. But no, a walk is asking for too much, isn't it? My father decided to track me down and take me to his house to talk to me. I didn't want to talk to him, but I ended up telling him I am bisexual. Oh, but he doesn't believe me and denies it.

Next, for being so rude and out of line I get my texting blocked. Plus my mom is constantly putting me down. She nearly kicked me out for "acting depressed all the time." And ugh, it's stupid and overly dramatic.

I hope karma hits my mom. Preferably with a truck.

Sounds like you really got screwed.

I hate it when anyone tries to cut you off at every turn like that, especially when it's your own parents.

I don't have any advice, but I want you to know I feel your pain 100%.

That's...stupid. It bothers me how some Christians (I'm Christian) think that gays need to all be burned at the stake; that's not how Jesus would have handled it.

Sorry to hear that.

Jesus was an awesome person, it seems. It's just that awesome people tend to gather terrible followers.

^^I think some people just use their religion to justify their homophobia.

Also, Jesus was badass. That is all.

I mean, if you really do believe that homosexuality is wrong, and you know a gay, then you should pray for them rather than try to stay away from them, you know what I mean?

This just occurred to me.

How come I've never seen homophobes have a problem with lesbians?

Cause they're just "confused", I guess.

Then again, I know people (men and women alike) who are disgusted by the thought of women kissing.

This whole situation is a total mess. I'm so sorry to hear you have to put up with it all.

Hoping things get better. How much longer until you're out of the house?

Did I mention that they're a military family?

By the way, I can relate to the situation somewhat. My uncle's family came over recently, and the male side of it has homophobic tendencies.

One night, we went out with my sisters for a bite to eat. Just me, my cousins, my sisters, and their one gay friend. I had to keep conversing with my cousin just to get his mind off the fact that he was squirming in his seat because he was even uncomfortable being around a gay man.

Hopefully your situation blows over and your parents forget about it. Or you can lie to them about sharing their views and just hide your laptop better.

Thanks guys. It's a bit irritating, but eh. I can live with it, I guess. As much as I'd love to just lie and say I share their views, I just can't help but stand for what makes sense. If my parents want to continue acting ignorant, fine. They just better know their son wants to disown them as soon as possible. I can get away from the house in a couple years, I hope that goes by faster than I expect.

I actually considered running away, feeling rejected by my family. But that would be stupid and a waste of time. I'd be found in a heartbeat, considering I have nowhere to go to hide, really. Maybe a friend's house, but that would last shortly I'm sure.
