Help saying bye?

Someone I know is moving soon (within a few weeks), and I want to try to set-up a casual meeting to say good-bye, maybe get a cup of coffee or lunch or something (not sure what really). I'm going to do so via e-mail or Facebook. Thing is, we haven't spoken in a while and I don't want it to be awkward. Is there any way I can non-chalantly, perhaps maybe over a couple of messages, suggest a meeting?

Any ideas, suggestions or whatever helps. Thanks.

Well, you can just openly tell them, "Since you're moving soon, it would mean a lot to me if we could have a coffee before you go". That shouldn't be awkward at all, unless there is a specific negative reason you haven't seen them in a while (although sometimes that's also a good way to bring it up: "I didn't want you to leave before we had a chance to hang out again, sorry about what happened, can we meet for a friendly going-away coffee?").

The other alternative, if you have mutual friends and you're okay with a little organising, is invite your friend to a small going-away party. Make it a morning tea thing, so it's definitely just a coffee and biscuits affair, have a small cake, what-have-you.

Either way, don't stress too much, just be chill and let them know that you would really like to see them before they go. Suggest a date and time that you want to meet. Never leave it at, "yeah, we should catch up", because that leaves too much room for people to forget in the busy lead-up to their move, but if you set a specific time and place, they agree to something solid. :)
