You know what bugs me?

When they're showing a trailer for a comedy movie (or television show), and at some point while a character's reciting a joke the soundtrack pauses for the punchline.

I can roughly gauge how much I would hate watching that movie by the number of times they do that during the trailer.

I remember when they advertised The Royal Tenenbaums as being an Adam-Sandler-gets-kicked-in-the-balls-type comedy. Oh man. My parents were confused when it turned out to be a more subtle humor.

I like it, though.

If there's one thing that bugs me, it's bad movie marketing. Pisses me off every time--especially when the movie is actually very good.

Or when action films show all the good parts in the trailer. AKA the Expendables.

Now I'll always notice when a trailer stops the music to deliver a joke.
*whatever music is playing in your head right now stops at this point*
Thanks a lot.

I don't judge movies on their trailers anymore.
Nonsense, I have not yet begun to defile myself.

The Expendables had no chance in hell at being a good movie in the first place. All those big names in one place screams "marketing ploy."

Actually, I have not seen The Expendables, I'm just assuming it sucked from word of mouth, so maybe I should STFU.

I think it's even worse when the music continues during the punchline, and then they have a big record scratch noise so they can show reaction shots of all the characters looking like they're contemplating suicide.

I refuse to watch anything if it has been advertised to me as the "Number One" best of its kind.

I know it sucks if they have to use that tired old horse. Of course if it has won an emmy or something, I give it a pass.

^When they say it's "the #1 ____ in America/Earth", they're talking about current box office. It's not a particularly sensible way to say it, but it's legitimate.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I just ignore trailers now. I've been to too many amazing comedic movies that were advertised as low-brow and slapstick and too many action movies in which every single good part of the movie was already in the trailer so there was nothing new to see. When I see a movie, it's because I heard it was good from people or I thought the concept was interesting or even the reviews liked it, sometimes. Trailers are an unreliable load of horse ****.

My favourite part of going to the movies are the trailers.

It's like I'm watching miniature movies, except only the good parts, that make me pumped.

I am always a little disappointed when the actual film begins.

Of course; it's also a very cliche`/trite way of advertising it, which leads it to mean nothing to me. Practically all the major movies are gonna be #1 ____ sometime, if they aren't box office busts.
