An ode to the teacher who wasted my class time

It's just appalling the kind of attitude some teachers have. Take my CCNA instructor. Seems like a good guy, teaches all right, kinda needs more hands-on lessons, but he can get the job done.

Then today, we get treated to half an hour of him ranting on how a number of the students were gone today without letting him know. Yeah, real ****ing smart giving lip to the people who ARE there, ****ing moron. What's more, why the hell do teachers do the "HALF THE CLASS GOT A D OR LOWER SO I'M YELLING AT YOU ALL" act? Class A performance, dip****. If you actually care about the students' performance, you'd do more individualized discussions with them instead of telling them they need to grow up.

I'm 20 years old, I've held a job and went through some horrid emotional scarring, I've conquered depression and even suicidal thoughts, I am NOT going to waste half an hour listening to you whine about how nobody showed up for a study session only three people even knew how to attend. So forgive me if I didn't show up, I still got a B. I've been doing pretty damn well for not being in school for two years.

Oh yeah, and you complain about the money wasted? You wasted half an hour of my time, I'm going to be demanded that refunded since it was an absolute waste. Don't like it? Go complain about it like you told us. Hypocritical ass.

It's a paradox.

The world will now eat itself because your teacher's an *******.

I feel you. I SO TOTALLY FEEL YOU.

Teachers love doing that whole punishing the entire class because some people in it did something wrong thing. They think that somehow it'll make the bad kids better and it will encourage the good kids [cuz yelling at them does that].

Raeg at this behavior.

Draw pupils on your eyelids and doze off while he's ranting.

I wrote a paper once on the ineffectivity & counterproductivity of group punishment. I got an A. That teacher never used group punishment again, at least not while I was in the room.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

^This. Yes. Epic win. Group punishment is broken and flawed on so many levels, it is astounding to see it still practiced.

BUT SHAME IS EFFECTIVE

AT PROVOKING HOSTILITY FROM AN ENTIRE GROUP TOWARD A SINGLE PERSON

Yeah, none of my professors this semester use group punishment, though my English Comp instructor has teetered on the edge of that territory a few times. I forgive him, because he's got all the wit and sarcastic bite of Greg House and it's actually quite entertaining to see somebody who's not 16 be that cynical (and that's not an insult, he actually wears it pretty well and knows his **** when it comes to writing).
