So guess what happened today? Yay! Subway! It must have been a really really ****ty day at Subway to deserve its own thread, right?

Well of course. For starters...it was just me and the manager today. :| The third person didn't show up for work, and didn't answer his phone. This meant that there were literally only two people working at the Subway.

And sure enough, you have to remember one thing...the amount of customers eager to go to a location is inversely proportional to the size of the dining area AND the amount of people working. We already don't have a dining area, that's why people appear to come from miles around just to go to Subway. And when we were understaffed...Let's just say the entire population of Holland decided to go to Subway.

We tried very hard to keep our calm today. And we did, it certainly wasn't easy. At the same time, we were INCREDIBLY pissed at the coworker for not showing up (and not answering his phone) and at the same time, worried that there might have been something like a car or bike accident on his way to work. (I'd feel really bad wishing to hurt someone for leaving us with the rudest people in Colorado only to find out he was in the hospital after getting run off the road by a maniac driver)

However, believe me we really wanted to hurt people. We warned everyone in the line that we'd be moving slow and that if they were in a hurry they probably should go somewhere else. Despite this, they all stayed...and yet they complained at us about how busy it got (Which it isn't!) and how slow it is (Which isn't entirely our fault, either! We were going as fast as we could without causing a scene or screwing peoples' orders up). So lemme ask you this, how on earth is it our fault for you being late for something when you chose to spend 30 minutes in line at Subway? :| If I were you and the line was moving around as fast as the line for Space Mountain is, I'd just leave and go some place faster or eat later. I wouldn't stand in line for 30 minutes. We can't control how busy it gets, and no, we certainly wouldn't close early...related to the other reason subway got slammed by (already angry) people.

Oh, and we got a lot more business because the salad place upstairs did something that really deserves the ****ing BBB on their cases. Suddenly about 20 more people walked down in line because the Salad place told the customers in line to "GTFO" because they were closing early, and didn't explain why. Uhm...why'd you do that? You don't tell customers in line to just leave because you're closing early! That's rude! Did something happen in there that'd require an emergency closing? It couldn't have possibly been a fire or gas leak - the entire building would be evacuated if that were the case. It also couldn't have been another flood, because we'd have had to close early too if that were the case. (It's directly above us; unfortunately whenever there's a leak or flood, it pours right down into our store. :/ not our fault or theirs, really, just inconveniences us both) Maybe a piece of equipment broke, but honestly, you'd think they'd at least say, "Sorry guys, we have to close early because something broke and we can't make anything else until it's fixed!". Honestly... If you guys lose a lot of busines for telling customers in line to GTFO, then we'll have NO sympathy for you guys, salad place. :|

And oh yeah...I really don't mind having to clean the counter again. You saw me doing it, and you just smeared mud on it from your skateboard. >.<;;

Plus side, though:

-A woman who ordered seven sandwiches in the middle of this all and held up the line for 20 minutes apologized to everyone else for holding them up and was polite.
-The manager was glad that I stuck around several hours after I should have gone home to help her close. (The dude who ditched was supposed to close) Really, it wouldn't be that fair to dump the stoners with the munchies/people who stampede in at 5 minutes to closing on her and let her do all that stuff by herself. :/ I didn't mind doing it either.
-Oatmeal raisin cookies are goooooooooooooood.
-I learned not to call my sister's cell phone anymore. She apparently doesn't answer physical phone calls, so I have to text her.

IN short, **** my life. -_-;; I should totally look for another job, cept there's no place hiring. It's august, and it's a college town - they're swamped with applications. (Believe me, I've tried.)

Overtime pay, yes? :)

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Yeah, probably another larger paycheck. (Which is good...I have to keep a bigger gas money fund, although I do feel tempted to contribute to the emergency fund, cause I'm a miser.)

Heh, yeah. US fastfood is always understaffed, underpaid, and the management always seems too dense.

I once called in before my shift to call in sick, at Wendy's. One of the supervisors tried to tell me that I had to find my own replacement. Instead of making an argument out of it, I quit shortly after.

I think if I was there I'd either leave for the sake of the workers, or possibly even volunteer to help out. Though I suppose that would bring about mixxed reactions, haha.

On the subject of fast food employment,
My friend was fired from McDonalds recently because his car broke down and he was late.

When he was told to bring in his uniform when he went to get his last check, he put it in a bag and um, urinated in it, then gave it to them...

His girlfriend also just left him after she met someone at bandcamp.

Also, his sister has recently become paralyzed and was denied treatment at the Ronald MacDonald house in Florida, so his dad and sis not only had to drive there, but had to drive back without the help he was seeking.

On the bright side, I hear my friend is doing well on WoW.
