Robot: Name? Ah, my serial number. It is R66-Y.
Lucca: R66-Y? Cool!
Marle: No! That won't do at all! Come on Crono, let's give him a better
name! [Name selection screen]
Marle: Robo... Robo... that's perfect! Your new name is Robo, okay?
Robo: I am... Robo... Data storage complete.
How the hell is Robo a good name at all!? Granted, you can name him anything, but seriously, just looking at this text makes me sick.
also, Magus kind of bugs me. I think I missed something: what was the point of waging war against humans, again? Was that already going on? How does that help him summon Lavos? Again, I probably missed something big. Oh, and nice job not telling us that you were summoning Lavos to kill it. We could have probably helped with that. Though, I guess he expected them to not know of Lavos? Oh, and the part before his duel against Frog, where he refers to Crono as a fool. I guess it's sorta understandable, seeing as our spiky-haired mute rushed Lavos, but...that was a heroic sacrifice, wasn't it? It's not like he saw Lavos, and then blindly attacked with a scythe. That'd be just silly for anyone to do. :flying:
I like Magus's battle theme, though. Seriously sounds like someone is crying: fitting, considering Magus has his cold past.
The game was good.

The name Robo probably sounds better in Japanese. Like Princess Salsa and Butz in Final Fantasy V.
I think Magus waged war on Guardia because of Ozzie? Maybe.
Janus (Magus) was discovered by Ozzie after travelling to the future and raised by him, right? Ozzie's an evil bastard who wants to conquer the world, though too fat and stupid to actually do it himself, so he probably manipulated the young boy to do it for him.
Or something like that.

Chrono Trigger? In the venting forum?
*wipes brow*
Whew... I thought a smackdown would be required here.
Yes, the game had a few cheesy moments, but naming the robot R2D2 will help alleviate that.

I didn't like Marle, so I just named him R66-Y again. Made for an interesting few lines of text, if nothing else.

Next, you're going to say that Frog was a terrible name.

Ozzie being a bad parent actually sounds good to me.
The name Frog isn't all that terrible to me: it seems to me that he made his fake name on the spot. His real name stays Glenn no matter what.
edit: oh, and when Magus is pretending to be a Prophet near Queen Zeal, doesn't he basically sound the alarms when Crono's team shows up? I forgot about that part.

The game was good.
That war was already waging before Magus' appearance.
Also, Magus wanted to kill Lavos on his own, so didn't tell anyone outside of his Keep, most likely.
Magus thought he was strong enough to defeat Lavos, so it wasn't silly to attack Lavos. Just ignorant and stubborn.
Yeah, Magus' theme song (Blackwind?) is pretty damn cool, what with the tortured wailing in the background and all.

Yeah, but he probably did that because they would interfere with his plans. And they tried to kill him.

It bugs me that Frog at one point splits a cliff in twain with his sword, yet seconds later can't do more then 2HP damage to a stinking bat.
- You stupid dog.

That's something JRPG's do almost universally. Characters ability to deal and take damage in-game is apparently completely unrelated to their ability to do the same in cutscenes.

I know but it still bugs me, as bad as Frog was he wasn't anywhere near as bad as Sora was in KHII.

There is a section in KHII were Sora by himself wipes out 1,000 heartless without much trouble. (The reason being that the player is in controll here.) Yet both before and after that section of the game there are seviral cutscenes where Sora will call for help/ need bailing out when He, Donold, and Goofy are facing off against ten or less heartless.

What if it was a fake cliff? :flying:
The stuff being said about Magus here makes sense to me. Thanks.

The enemies in that cave only take damage from magic attacks. ALL your characters do pathetic weapon damage, not just Frog.
But yes, the in game character abilities of just about every game do not match the cutscenes, unless you are playing Dirge of Cerberus.

^ Or FF7: Crisis Core. When you fight a thousand enemies in a cutscene, you literally fight a thousand in-game.
Great game.

Is Red faction the only game where you do more damage while playing than during the cutscenes?

by Fairlight Excalibur
^No
^You have it backwards, I think. Most games will let you trash thousands of enemies while playing, but then watch your characters run from ten guys in a cutscene.
With Crono Trigger as an example, when the group arrives at the base of the mountain in the 65,000,000 BC period, you can easily school the reptites. Five on one? No problem. You could probably thrash hundreds of them. Yet, for some reason, Ayla has to come save you when you face about eight of them or so.
Also, the guards in Guardia Castle are weaklings; you can butcher them easily, yet your whole party runs from them when twelve of them start chasing you.
Same is true of many games. I think Final Fantasy games, in general, are good about keeping it consistent. Cloud and Squall both slice through enemies, hop on motorcycles, and generally take names in cutscenes the same way the player would.
Also, all the scenes in Dirge of Cerberus and Crisis Core show the characters rocking everybody, much like they do in the actual game.
But these are exceptions; most games, especially RPGs like Crono Trigger and Kingdom Hearts, allow you to become well nigh invincible after sufficient leveling up, yet still run from baddies during movie scenes.
Oh no! A goomba!! *runs*
